PSP Go is there to challenge ipod touch in the opinion of many people.

And it's not for current PSP owners, that's very clear.

No, it's really for no one, as the text I quoted very nicely explains. The more people understand this, the better. If we don't vote with our wallets, this will be the future that awaits us video gamers. The fewer people buy it, the clearer the signal to Sony.

"Well certainly with the Xbox 360, we had some challenges at the launch. Once we identified that we took control of it. We wanted to do it right by our customers. Our customers are very important to us." -Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb (10/2013). Note: RRoD was fixed with the Jasper-revision 3 years after the launch of 360

"People don't pay attention to a lot of the details."-Yusuf Mehdi explaining why Xbone DRM scheme would succeed

"Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity; it's called Xbox 360,”-Don Mattrick

"The region locking of the 3DS wasn't done for profits on games"-MDMAlliance

I don't care, and please why are you posting some forum post like it's an article.

While I really think Sony went too far with that price for the Go, the same thing the Iphone/Ipod touch is praised for, the Go gets shit on. And it's not for current PSP owners, that's very clear.

Agree with this mostly!

But in terms of the price, they said it competes with Iphone/Ipod but, and maybe it's because I'm in Canada ( prices may be different elsewhere), but a DSi is 199.99 and a PSP GO is 249.99. In my opinion the PSP has better games, but can also play music and videos and it's smaller when it's in it's case (I can put it in my pocket). Worth the extra $50.

People forget, but the PSP got the same hate for the UMD as well, and funny thing is the PSP sells no software compared to the competition. It has the lowest attach rate and has been selling less these past couple months.

Not excited for the PSP Go. Seems pointless to me now especially since the pricing of the Downloads are more expensive than the UMD.

being an apple fana boy i hate to say this, but this seems to be sony saying, hmm we need to be like apple. though i will say apple always gave us a few years worth transition software for our old apps/games

come play minecraft @  mcg.hansrotech.com

minecraft name: hansrotec

XBL name: Goddog

Just allow conversion from UMD to PSPGo and that should fix the biggest problem.

As for completely new accessories... WTF. Stick with USB...
Now, you'll have to haul your special power adapter everywhere you PSPGo.

Now for the more obvious flaws:
- fewer features than previous PSPs, but at a crazy high price (250 EUR in Europe, that's 365 USD)
What fewer features???

- DRM'd games are sold for up to 40 USD online
Games are sold for up to 40 USD at retail... this makes no sense to me...

- built-in battery that can't be replaced
Pandora battery. Blame users, not SONY for trying to protect their money.

- smaller screen than previous PSPs
Also more crisp

- unergonomic, cramped controls (especially the L/R buttons)
Personal preference. I find the DSLite quite uncomfortable. Most people say it's fine.

- old, outdated and error prone wireless protocol (802.11b)
The old models are better?

- downloads can't be resumed and take forever
And the old platforms are better?? You can redownload your stuff. Also use a pc or ps3 for the downloads.

- PSP can't be used for anything else while downloading
The old models are better?

- proprietary plug instead of USB as in previous PSPs, need to buy special Sony cords
Buy??? IT FUCKIN COMES WITH IT!!!

It is beyond me how this abomination managed to make it out into he wild (well, at least into those stores who don't boycott it for obvious reasons). It doesn't reflect well on a company to release a product like this. And if you buy a PSP Go at this point, it doesn't reflect well on your state of mind.

What am I supposed to say here??? Sorry we have different gaming preferences??? Sorry if the Go fits my needs and not yours??? Sorry if I like a product and you don't??

I think the problem isn't with UMD, it is with the fact that you can't convert your previous legit purchases to the PSP Go. Also the fact that most games cost full price even without UMD.
