if its a WRPG then only Bethesda can do it.

There is so much wrong with what you are saying. BioWare is the king of WRPGs, with Bethesda being the only people to threaten that position

Honestly, I believe it's true, but there isn't really anything to say until it's released. Although I doubt FF13 will touch it. Sure, FF13 is going to be a great JRPG, but a big BioWare game beats the living crap out of all other RPGs

Both of you are mistaken - Black Isle Studios/Obsidian Entertainment is the king of WRPGs, with BioWare the secondary holder of the crown. Bethesda could only be in consideration after they.

I don't know if this will set new standards. Depends on how it compares to the first one.

Lies

Obsidian ranks on par with Bethesda at best, in my experience

Chris Avellone alone, my man! Chris Avellone alone. Regardless of their name, these are the people who made the first two Fallouts, and Planescape: Torment...

That was a long time ago, BioWare has surpassed Obsidian these days (or Obsidian has descended from its high rank, I don't know ).

Combine Black Isle and BioWare and you have the best of the best.

Baldur's Gate 2.

OT:
Mass Effect is still one of my favourite games, cant wait for the second one.

@coolbeans

me2 wasnt announced as 360 exclusive, platforms were undecided, only much later it was said 2 b on 360.

i believe microsoft gained timed exclusive, it shouldn't be any suprise if gets released on ps3 at a later date.

Ahh yes how could I forget the first one..........never came over to PS3.  Dude, you're gonna need some kind of link about platforms being undecided because E3 vids will tell you 360/PC platforms and in no way did they give any reason for you to believe a PS3 port is happening.  If you don't, you're basically just throwing out some type of fanboy conspiracy theory.  Now if you remember how Mass Effect's storyline is going, your story is meant to be the canon so whatever happened in the first one transfers over to the 2nd, then 3rd, and who knows what happens from there.  So since Mass Effect (1) isn't on the PS3, there's already one huge reason why the rest of the trilogy won't go over to PS3.  Unless your good 'ole uncle's friend's nephew's roomate who works at Bioware announces they'll be wasting money porting ME over to PS3, don't throw out comments of this being a timed exclusive because you're only fooling yourself.

Well I don't think that ME2 will come over to PS3, but your argument is poor regardless.  The idea that the continuing story will negate the possibility of a PS3 port means you think that noone who missed the first game will even be able to play the second.  Don't you think EA would see that as a huge negative and have already figured out a way to counteract it?

*Raises an eyebrow* I liked KOTOR II much more than it was given credit for, but I dunno if I'd go that far.

How much did you like the first two Fallouts? Or Planescape: Torment? Or the restored version of Sith Lords, I suppose.

There's a reason that Alpha Protocol is my most-anticipated RPG right now.

Actually, the only one I've played is the original Sith Lords, parts of which I really liked better than the first KOTOR, such as the way they handled the characters. I read somewhere, in that RPG thread in the Sony forum, that Alpha Protocol has over 120 hours of dialogue in it? Holy hell, that's a ton. It was on my radar earlier, but I'm going to have to take a closer look at it now. Has it been officially delayed or is that just rumored?

I'll probably get the new Fallout next year as well.

Do you think it can set new standards, or will FF13 do that instead?

Read my bet in the sig. and you will know my opinnion on it.

However I have to add that both games are shaping up extremely nicely and are first day buys for me.

Your sig bet isn't entirely reasonable. To be the best-rated RPG of the generation it would need to top 94, in order to beat the 360 version of Oblivion. It would need over 93 to top the PS3 version of Oblivion, or the 360 version of Fallout 3. So unless it gets a 95 or better, which no Final Fantasy has ever done....
