With the advent of the God of War Collection, which features two PS2 classics remastered in beautiful high-definition, other developers and publishers are starting to toy with this idea.
And from where we're standing, Team ICO should definitely consider giving their two PS2 classics - ICO and Shadow of the Colossus - the high-def next-gen treatment. We're talking about two of the most artistically accomplished titles of the last generation; not to mention two of the most critically acclaimed and widely beloved games in history. So of course, we were excited to hear Team ICO boss Fumito Ueda tell 1Up that he's on our side. Yep, he'd love to see his projects end up on the PS3 with full HD and Trophy support:
"I always thought they were designed for PS2 and should stay there. But lately, I’ve been thinking it would be nice to provide the games to other platforms to reach more users."
So long as he's considering it, we're happy. However, it appears that Ueda and Co. would need the support of Sony...probably the same executives who gave the green light to the aforementioned collection. But do you remember Sony asking gamers how they might respond to such a product earlier this year? Well, the overwhelmingly positive response likely gave Sony all the feedback they needed, so while the final decision may rest with Sony, it's up to you to talk this up a bit. Request it from every corner of the Internet; start up a petition, whatever you need to do to get their attention. Team ICO is willing, so let's tell 'em it's a damn good idea!
