Game looks and plays great, but in the end, the most important thing in a MGS game is story. As far as stories go, MGS4 is a step below MGS2.

+Greatest story in video gaming, one of the better looking games this gen

-Not nearly enough gameplay, cutscenes were too long, what gamplay there was too convoluted and confusing, just missing the "fun factor" that MGS1 and 2 had.

10/10 - one of the most profound stories ever told.

+ virtually everything within the single player game and most of the online.

- some missing features (Story theater, Boss rush), Act installs, uneven framerate with large number of players in MGO.

What's good:
+ The graphics are gorgeous.
+ It has retained much of what I loved in the previous games: It feels like MGS.
+ Gameplay works mostly well.
+ There are many good things in the story.

The bigger drawbacks:
- The story was taken to a bad direction.
- There are some ridiculous things in the plot.
- Environments change too fast: Atmosphere suffers because of that.
- Many of the Acts are too linear. It never bothered me in the previous games but here it did.
- The game is a bit too action-oriented even if stealth does work.

And two lesser minuses:
- The installs are pretty annoying. They're one of the things that's keeping me from coming back to the game.
- Still no Trophies. They've been giving hints about Trophies coming to the game but it doesn't seem to be happening.

As for the final verdict... It's hard to say. Something between 8 and 9 would be appropriate. Let's say...

+ Sharp controls and good gameplay
+ The final boss & the boss fight at the end of Act 4.

- Cutscenes are too long and dragged on, and some felt unneccessary.
- Once you remove the cutscenes, you only get like 4 hours of gameplay.
- The majority of the bosses have no personality by the time you fight them.
- Drebon points/system made the game too easy. It didn't compel you to conserve your ammo.
- Story was terrible and corny at times. One thing was pretty much the answer to everything.
- Online is laggy, and the Konami ID login sucks.
