Who is buying all these copies of GT5? At the current moment the PS3 install base is not quite 25 million. Lets say, optimistically, the base hits 27 million by the time the game is released.

15 million would suggest that over half of all PS3 owners are

a) into racing games
b) willing to shell out 60 bucks for this racing game
c) do not use gamefly or other rental services
d) Are not using their PS3 as a blu-ray player

I mean as it stands, the current PS3 exclusive to sell well is MGS4 which, last time I counted, was not quite at the 5 million mark. How do you propose GT5 gets sold anywhere near 10-15 million?

I think it would be a much safer bet to predit 5-7 million and be pleasantly surprised if it sells more LTD .

I think around 6m-8m lifetime personally.

The majority of sales will come from Europe and Japan so depends a lot on how much they want it. This gen seems strange with predicting sales. Some you think will sell loads bomb and some you think will bomb will sell loads.

The game is taking on massive levels of hype with every delay so the expectations will be high. My expectations will be high.

So it most deffinatly has the potential to ship 8m+. However it is not a mainstream game ala Halo. It is a sports game technically so to people not interested in cars they wont buy it.

So i think 6m to 8m lifetime sounds about right. In Europe it is not really Gran Turismo land anymore, there are now lots of alternatives. So for me it really hangs on how we see the series today.

Another thing, if Halo 2 was able to sell around 9 mln. on much smaller userbase than PS3(will be), why GT5 won`t be able to do that?

15mln. is only 25% of 60 mln. userbase, and why not? When GT is the strongest PS franchise and overall it looks like to be a VERY great game.

What makes you people think, that Gran Tursimo became less popular, when just Prologue alone sold over 4 mln. copies.

No chance it sells over 10 million.

Bundle or no bundles, I say 7.5 million max.

That number is great, it's a racer and no sony game has sold over 5 million this gen. This will be the first guranteed.

I see that you're new here. This thing has been debated over and over again.

GT5:P is at 3.14 million, has been out for two years and was HEAVILY bundled.

There is a lot more competition in the racing genre than last gen (Forza, Need for Speed, MotorStorm, etc.)

PS3 userbase is too small to reach 10 million like numbers. (Just take alook at FF13 in Japan vs. FFX or FFXII)

If GT5 reach 6 mil LTD it will be a great feat for Sony, but I,m not even sure it will ever reach that number, unless the game is being bundled.
