No 3rd place console has ever had a simultaneous $100 price drop with a remodel and 6 months of pent up demand =).

this might prove the affordability price point "sweet spot".
A normal price drop shows different levels of decline over time, this one seems to actually be boosting sales rather than preventing a loss of sales.

Nintendo had a much bigger comeback than Sony, they went from 3rd place last gen (with the gamecube) to 1st place this gen (with the Wii).

while Sony went from dominating the industry last gen, to being (currently) 3rd this gen.

I agree with the terrible publicity. before 2 years I used to see tons of youtube vids that bash the PS3 and adore the Wii60, but sony changed the situation.

so ... YEEEAAAAAHH GO GO PS3 !!!!
