They scored in the 7s? That's about what I'd have guessed. They'll be ok games but probably nothing memorable

As i said before (and i really expected you to have read it), that depends. Take an innovative 7.0 game. You play it because it have something new and cool. Even if the implementation turns out to be a little buggy or repetitive, you still have some fun out of the new stuff.
Are you willing to spend 50 bucks on a brawler with nothing new on it?
Man, if the game had at least motion plus support, i could maybe buy it. But a 50 bucks button masher? Dont we have streets of rage already on the VC? |
So by your logic I should never see a 'decent' action movie in the theatre again because I can buy Terminator 2 on DVD.
IGN's average review is a 68.50%. That means a 7 is right about average and a 7.5 is slightly above average for that site. Those are not bad scores. Look at the words right under the number on the review. It says "7.5 Good" and "7.0 Decent". It does not say bad.

and judging by your avatar i would say you loved shadowrun for the snes. anyway baroque is a great example that you cant judge a game solely by a number. i know how you feel. baroque is a game that you sometimes feel like you arent going anywhere.still a great game though. |
Yeah, Baroque had the bizarre, twisted, sick story to boot.
Im a sucker for this kind of stuff. Even if it give me nightmares sometimes.
Shadowrun had something of all this too. It was just too dark for the SNES (and for the 12 years old me). It was unresistable
But the great problem with these two games that we are (really) discussuing here is the lack of a main hook to keep you interested.
I was never the "review whore" kind of player, but when you see a totally average concept getting a 7, its kind of hard to justify a 50 bucks purchase.
And i see this as a problem for the whole wii (future) game library. There goes another publisher crying about not selling hardcore content on wii. And once again, that´s because lack of innovation.

games isnt 50$ most games regardless of console or genre are not innovative. ign states that the score it gave it is positive. people in this thread are wanting the game. i still dont see where you are coming from.

im sorry dude...but thats a terrible outlook...just because a game isnt innovative doesnt mean its not worth playing...so I guess you dont play Shooters,JRPG's or action games? |
Only if they´re really, really great
Cmon, im playing videogames for 15 years now.
You probably played a lot of games through your life too.
Dont you feel a little bit tired of the same old stuff?
I can see how an old concept can still be GREAT fun. Im playing Dead Space on the PC right now, and the game works a lot like Resident Evil 4. But im LOVING IT. Because it is amazing, even if the game play feels just like RE4 (and a lot of other games i didnt played yet)
The problem is the "regular hardcore game" isnt selling on wii.
Or, at least is what ALL publishers say.
When they have the chance to try something new.... they do the same stuff all over again.
And again, dont sell as expected, start to cry, say the wii is doomed, yadda yadda yadda.

Well, lets see the game sales and the publisher reaction....
Unfortunally, it will be the same sad story.
I think ive already said too much. Lets just wait the first sales data.
