@Khuutra- thats nice to know but i meant loading-wise, it seems this gen's handhelds make small tid-bits of noise from what i here, nothing wrong per se but just a small issue.

Just playing a dvd the PS3 sounded like an airplane was landing in the living room, much louder than the 360. To be fair though i'm sure it was on for quite a while and it was bought second hand so it's louder.......but why does it louder with age?

yes Wii is the quietest but could the PS3 Slim be even quieter still?

A game cart isn't going to make any noise. The PSP's UMD's on the other hand do make some noise, but nothing notable.

DS does make a sound! Turn the DS on and have the volume on mute, put your ear up to the DS and listen, you'll hear a very faint ringing sound.

I've never seen a PS3 outside of a store so I don't know. My Wii is very quiet though. My brother is home from the army right now and when he plays the 360, it's loud!

My PS3 and Wii are both pretty quiet. However when playing PS2 games over a long period of time or playing Brawl, they both get loud.

360 is still a jet engine when running games off the disc.

Wii is definitely the quietest, though some get pretty loud when playing a dual-layered disc such as Brawl or Metroid Prime Trilogy.

The PS3 has different models which differ in internal parts that keep it cool, typically older models are loud while newer models are quieter. It's still not as quiet as the Wii but its much more so then the 360 I'd say.

I'm sure. It's very very faint. Maybe I just have sensetive hearing. I couldn't really hear it on my DSi, but there was some background noise when I tried. MY DS and my brother's and sister's DS Lite's make the constant very very faint noise. Best to try it in total silence.
