The 40GB was released on 10th October same day the price cut was the same day i believe so it had 4 days of it the other 3days where normal or lower because GAME,Gamestation and a few other stores where advertising the 40GB for about a week before it released.
Sales are good and wont drop too much because now the price is almost right and the games are starting to flow and then there is the PES08 bundle and PES is big here,not as big as FIFA but alot better than FIFA and if its bundled then even better.
I expect sales to drop down to around what Wii sales where last week 60-65k X360 sales to drop down to 35-40k Wii sales to stay about 65-70k the sales will stay at those levels for about 2-4weeks and then the Christmas rush starts and this new price for the PS3 will give it much better sales during Christmas.

Gratz hitting 5 mil Sony. I don't think it will take a whole year to get 5 million more sold. I think they'll hit 5 mil right before Holidays 2008.

or maybe it's one of those things, if you predict something insane and or stupid you get noticed, so if you dont get called out on a prediction you must be within reason.

Between 10th and 14th there are 5 days, not 4.

But it depends on the countries, some countries only had the price cut from the 11th, and the 40 GB maybe even later.

 The ps3 should be very close to 9 mil. by the end of the year.  Why would it take them until March to sell that many?

Being ahead of Wii and Xbox360 seems impressive but when you consider Wii is in low supply again, PS3 had a significant price drop and hardware change, it isn't that impressive if it's a sharp sales spike followed by a drop in sales.

Because they wont be close to 9 mil by end of the year.

Im willing to bet on that, they won't reach even 8 million on 2007

I think the increase has been even higher ... I mean this is a 146% increase and we know by the UK data that it has been 178% .And the PS3 is even more popular in continental Europe.

As for the consoles being sold ...dont know but havent seen a single 40Gb in the stores .Or they are sold out or they have been released in very small numbers and not in all the stores .As for stock there should be at least 1 million and a half 60Gb machines so that should endure for the christmas period once added to the 40Gb machines .

Right now the PS3 sits at 5.05 million (5.07 if we count the japanese data of the two last weeks ) .The next 5 million will be faster .

I think the price drop will definitely lift the PS3 sales to way bigger levels ,maybe some 60K machines weekly in others .Once the price drop to 400 is effective in Japan and NA we will see what it can really do .

For end year my estimations were being not very enthusiastic some 7.35 million consoles .If everything goes very well it could go as far as 8 million and something .

Well, you wouldn't be Diomedes1976 if you didn't complain about the numbers, so I'll just ignore that part. Regarding the 178% number how do you know that's for the whole week? It might well be for 10th of October and later...
