I think the increase has been even higher ... I mean this is a 146% increase and we know by the UK data that it has been 178% .And the PS3 is even more popular in continental Europe.
As for the consoles being sold ...dont know but havent seen a single 40Gb in the stores .Or they are sold out or they have been released in very small numbers and not in all the stores .As for stock there should be at least 1 million and a half 60Gb machines so that should endure for the christmas period once added to the 40Gb machines .
Right now the PS3 sits at 5.05 million (5.07 if we count the japanese data of the two last weeks ) .The next 5 million will be faster .
I think the price drop will definitely lift the PS3 sales to way bigger levels ,maybe some 60K machines weekly in others .Once the price drop to 400 is effective in Japan and NA we will see what it can really do .
For end year my estimations were being not very enthusiastic some 7.35 million consoles .If everything goes very well it could go as far as 8 million and something .
