The ps3 should be very close to 9 mil. by the end of the year. Why would it take them until March to sell that many? |
Because they wont be close to 9 mil by end of the year. Im willing to bet on that, they won't reach even 8 million on 2007 |
Why? Generally, 50% of CE sales occur during the 4th quarter of the calendar year, because of the holiday saeson. For example, last year, the 360 had only managed to sell ~4.5 mil. consoles worldwide by the end of September. However, it managed to sell another ~4 mil. consoles throughout the holidays, bringing it's year end totalsclose to 9 mil. consoles sold. Why would the same not happen for the ps3? Especially with the recent price drops and addition of the 40gb SKU. Not to mention the fact the ps3 is just now getting good games, like R&C5 and Uncharted. |
Well it is (typically) between 30% and 50% ...
Last year the XBox 360 was (pretty much) the only one of the next generation systems that was in stock in any real supply and was really starting to hit its stride; Gears of War was a major game last holiday season, was the first real "Next Generation" game in terms of graphics, and had a massive ad campaign.
This year the PS3 will face strong competition from the XBox 360 and Wii; the Wii is far less expensive, has a solid line-up, and is very (VERY) family friendly; and the XBox 360 easily has the best line-up of the three with Bio-Shock, Halo 3, Mass Effect, and versions of most of the PS3's strongest titles.
