Forums - Sales - If FF13 sells 1.5 Million LTD (Japan), Will FF15 be on Wii? DS? PSP?

I'd like to know what Famitsu is basing these estimations on. I mean they say it can sell as low as 800k 1st week, and that just seems .. impossible for a mainline FF game.

MGS4 shipped about 550k copies 1st week in Japan on a 2.2m userbase. That's like 25% of the PS3 users bought the game 1st week. And sales of games like DMC4, RE5, Yakuza 3 suggest that there isnt that big of a decrease in sales for these franchises compared to the PS2 installments. Actually there usually is only a 10-15% decrease. that would imply that FFXIII should sell about 2.1m copies, and that's what I always expected it to sell.

So, these expectations of Famitsu really confuse me. I cant imagine why the game would sell that low.

@Ail

Outsell even FF VII? I'm having my doubts.

No but it will outsell XII and X in the West and with the shrinking Japanese market that is exactly what SE needs.

You can't compete with Activision or EA when 86% of your revenue comes from a market that keeps shrinking when your competitors do the majority of their business in a market that keeps expanding...

DQ IX may be doing very well in Japan but that is no the kind of games that will sell massively in the West so focusing on that approach would just increase the depending of SE on the Japanese market and that is what they are trying to get away from ( why else do you think they purchased Eidos).

With DQ, Nintendo said they'd advertise it a lot. So they're looking for a Western approach even with their most Japanese games, but keeping everything traditional. Nintendo helped Level 5 with Layton, they should help DQ quite a lot as well. Same goes for MH3.

Supposedly they're going to advertise DQ a lot.  Yet Wada has stated they're not going to even think about localizing DQIX till sometime 'next year' (after March).  And given SquareEnix past track record in handling Dragon Quest outside of Japan, I'd say chances areslim that they'll put forth much effort on the marketing and localization themselves.

If Nintendo is going to try to help promote Dragon Quest this time like they promised, its probably going to be 90% them that's pushing it.  SE seems to think DQ is an ugly stepchild you don't tell the world about when it comes to America/Europe.

Well, yes. That's a big part of why Nintendo is agreeing to push it.

Final Fantasy XV probably PS360 right before next generation starts. FF12 came out several months after the 360 launched and couple before PS3 launched.

My guess - FF16 will be on PS4/Poo/720.

Poo? Can you explain us what do you mean?

Final Fantasy is a now a multi-platform franchise.

As I don't expect Final Fantasy 15 until like 2012 at the earliest ... I suspect it'll be for all HD consoles, and that includes Wii 2, which I think will be out by 2012.

So Wii 2 + PS3 + 360.

It was a dumb joke - not to be taken seriously.  Wii's successor.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Conservatives:  Pushing for a small enough government to be a guest in your living room, or even better - your uterus.

Obviously Darth. Would you find it also hilarious if he described your so loved PS3's successor as poo?
