Microsoft is undertracking the 360, and sony is overtracking the ps3:

31.0M vs 23.7M= 7.3 M gap, and thats there numbers as of JUNE 31 2009

The PS3 will outsell the 360 in the grand scheme.

This gen is truly unique. The market-share was never so great for a user.

Most of the HD games will be multiplatform. The Xbox360 has the lead right now, but it is not enough to gurantee 3rd party exclusives. Maybe the PS3 will catch up to the PS3, but does it matter? It won't pass it by 30 million, so the situation would be the same like today.

HD consoles get their games, Wii get its games. So no console will lose support this gen. This is not a 120million vs 24million vs 21million situation like last gen. And did you care last gen that Xbox came in 2nd, beating the Gamecube by 3 million? a 3+/- difference might happen again this gen.

I am talking about NPD, an independent source from Microsoft, I remeber when VG chartz posted numbers that were way off for the Xbox 360 when the NPD numbers came out, and it has happened quite often like I said before.

why? because sony said they SOLD 24M Ps3 worldwide according to their retailers the last GamesCon.

but Microsoft said they SHIPPED 31M 360 worldwide at the end of August.

so imo, the ps3 is right now at the 24.8/25.1M mark and the 360 is at the 30.9M mark.
