Forums - Gaming - Dragon Quest X will be multiplat, Wii + PS3

I find this thread funny.

1. What does motion (i.e. wand and wiimote) have to do with DQ or MH games? Absolutley nothing, so that is not a determining factor at all to porting these games.

2. A year ago I made a thread about games built on Wii and then ported to PS360 since Wii would be king and that is what happened on all previous generations. I was laughed at and ridiculed by many a PS360 fanboy about how that was "impossible" as the HD systems are just too powerful, blah blah.

Now, you are all giddy that these two games (and others) might get ported after being built on Wii hardware because Sony has a wand? wtf. lol.

I'm not saying S-E won't port at all, as it all comes down to the decision if porting will be more profitable than not, but, its just funny that wand is making you think its possible when a year ago it wasn't.

highly highly doubt this!

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

This makes no sense. DQS sold 500k on the Wii on a 2 mil userbase in Japan but I don't see them porting Star Ocean or FF XIII either.

Why would the wand be used? It's not going to use motion controls.

And Nintendo obviously had a hand in getting the game as Wii exclusive which explains why Iwata was at the event...

Sorry, it won't happen.

Do we know for sure the game wont use motion? If we do, i missed that announcement

Have you played DQ before? It's a series that doesn't need motion controls for anything. What are you gonna use motion controls for an old school turn based battle system for? They can maybe make some minigames using them, but that's it. I bet there'll be CC support.

It will probably only need the Wiimote held on its side, all told...

Probably not. I am willing to bet FF13 will be the lowest selling FF game on a Sony platform besides 11.

This is why they ported it to Xbox 360 as well. If Monster Hunter was coming to PS3, it would have been announced a year and a half ago. Square also will break the record on DSs with DQ9, Wii may be higher.

This.

Not to forget about profits from FFXIII. SE can't make lots of profits with the (very) high developmentcosts for FFXIII. That's also a big reason why they're porting it to the XBOX360.

hmm.

this week have made me change my point of view for the wii in japan.
people want to get into motion controls can either goo wii motion plus or wand.
but then the could do HD graphics easy on the ps3.
ps3 also it's great at selling third parties in japan, something not expected with a small userbase.
dragon quest X, quality depends alot who is making it, but will sell tons nonetheless wherever it's released.

i just hope it's LEVEL 5 making it =(.

i really would have loved to see a HD cellshaded dragon quest.

Since capcom is the one who said that thing about Wii ports to PS3 , i'd say Monster Hunter.

having DQX on Wii is good IMO, since IX was on DS . you know Nintendo and Nintendo? same fanbase. and Exclusivety = more success

*sony to nintendo*

all your game are belong to us!

One more thing

who would buy it?

would japanese PS3 owners buy it, as I don't expect them to waste money on graphics upgrades at all.

this whole idea is sounding very weird gilgamesh

Nah, but we dont know any details about the game yet.

It might have an all new battle system, it might have all new gameplay stuff that rely on motion.
