The price cut is now confirmed. Good job, Nintendo for keeping the Wii relevant.

You're right. I just really wanted to see how the Wii did full priced with no shortages.
@ dolemit: The Wii was always relevant - even with a drop in sales YoY it's posting numbers that Sony could only dream of the PS3 doing. Sorry for breakin' it to you but there was no way the PS3 was gonna outsell the Wii this holiday, price cut or no. I suspect this price cut killed any notion you might've had about the PS3 topping Wii this holiday... ;)
The Wii price cut is a hoax until proven otherwise. Just consider the source of the news, Kotaku.
Things that need to die in 2016: Defeatist attitudes of Nintendo fans
Kotaku is the first news site to post all four rumors?
Best Buy, Toys R' Us, Wal-Mart, Target, etc. ... at least one of them would've spoken up if the flyers were fake by now.
This is a done deal, face it. Kotaku likely has a contact inside a printing company that does flyers for retail.
What difference does it make regarding supply? The supply that Nintendo has for this holiday is what they got ... if there end up being shortages again this Christmas it just means they're selling out of the number they alloted.
They're going to have X number of Wiis for the holidays regardless of the price. The lower price just means they have a better shot at selling all of the systems they would like to sell.
So I contacted Nintendo asking them about an NSMB Wii bundle, here's the reply:
Regarding the question you asked about, we are aware of the rumors, but aren't able to comment on them other than to say there is currently no announcement concerning it. Since Nintendo.com is the site for Nintendo, you'll never see speculation there - only confirmed, finalized, and official news is released.
What's interesting is the phrasing of the reply.
Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)
I expect a formal announcement within a few days.
An NSMB bundle would mean holiday destruction.

Yes it would..Especially if there were new colors as well. At least I believe so.
Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:
If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.
If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
I think people are overestimating the effect new colors would have.
Colors are huge for handhelds because this is something you take out with you and that many others see and people like being seen with cool stuff.
A home console color isn't that important as it stays home and in some case is half hidden under the TV stand and you can't even see it...
