Forums - Sales Discussion - PS3 Slim sells 57 000 in its second week in Japan

Pretty decent numbers.
The drop was a little bit higher than I was hoping for but, sales should hold steady for another week with ToV releasing.

You okay?

Did you stub your toe or something?

Japan sales: 150k last week down to 60k this week. Around a 60% drop in sales in one week.

The other two regions should drop by around 30% to 40% respectively in regards to last weeks sales.

Overall weekly sales will have dropped by around 50% upon last week sales. 550k down to 275k.

In two week time PS3 will be back to around 200k during October weekly sales. Temporary spikes due to game releases and peak Xmas sales period will give seasonal hardware boosts.

Look at the bigger picture the PS3 has lost millions upon millions since launch. The PS3 will have to sell 150k in each territory for another year to even make a dent. With only 57k in the 2nd week things are beginning to stabalize and it's bombing even the GoW release had a better hike in sales in Japan than the price cut!!

PS3 = 57K = BAD
360= 4K= GOOD

Over time, you can convince someone that 2+2 = 5, as stated by George Orwell.  Around here, I'm afraid the Wii PS3 will always be a failure and doomed no matter what.

Hey now. That's so 2008. Fixed.

Yeah sounds about right.

Just so you guys can compare, PS3 sold 43k on its second week with a drop of 50% compared to it's first week. Wii sold 97k on its second week with a drop of 73%.

Those were limited by supply though, so not really a good comparison.

PS3 definitely didn't sell out on its Japanese launch. Hard to find maybe, but supply limited no.

Wii had 400k shipped for pre-orders alone and sold like 470k on it's first ten days. It would be retarded to think Nintendo not supplied the marked with another shipment that week.

You're wrong, PS3 was limited by supply at launch, it didn't last long though.

Just as some proof for the first week:

Anyone claiming Wii wasn't limited by supply must have been on a different planet for even much of 2007.
