Forums - Nintendo - More Wii price cut evidence

Consoles are dirt cheap now; I am going back to PC.

The thing that is killing me is that only Kotaku reports these. It seems weird that only they are getting these "inside scopes."

For whatever it's worth, Nintendo is still denying any price cut:

"We currently have no plans to cut the price of Wii. Current talk of price cuts is rumour and speculation. This is rumour and speculation as Nintendo have made no announcements on price. Furthermore this is most likely retailer led much in the same way retailers in the UK offer price promotions on our products." - Nintendo rep

I'm not sure if this actually clears anything up, since I'd expect Nintendo to deny a rumoured price drop until it's officially announced, but it does suggest that this might just be a special promotion after all.

@Soundwave

Nintendo have released eleven 10M+ sellers since the DS launched which averages around 1 every 6 months.

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

I didn't want to start a new thread but i just noticed that EB Games Australia is offering the Wii for
$297 AUD (nearly $100 less than the RRP) , if you also purchase Wii Fit ($127), for a limited time.

Well it looks like all of nothing came out of London. No related threads here, and barely a mention on GoNintendo (a quote from Laurent Fischer, the "geeks and otaku" guy, regarding Nintendo's stance on downloadable vs retail content), and nothing on any of the larger outlets.

In the meantime, more $200 Wii ads have been spotted:

There's no way that Wal-Mart, Toys R Us, and Target all decided to have the same special at the same time.

I think it supports my theory, of Nintendo trying to clear out the Wii Sports bundles by lowering their price and replacing them with a new $249.99 bundle

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

I don't know if Nintendo wants to play the Bundle game now, though. But they seem to be derailing their previously prevailing strategy with the cut itself, so anything is possible.
