Forums - Nintendo - DSi Price CUT --- T-O-D-A-Y!! (down to $169 from $199)!! [Reliable Rumor]

good, £149.99 for a nintendo handheld console is too much imo. Thats why some online retailers in the uk have already slashed the price to 129.99 in a bid to get more sales. Maybe if this price cut comes across the pond, it will go down to 99.99? I might consider getting one at that price.

Well if they do Drop the price of the DSi, it'll make the rumors of a Wii Price change more likely, but a price drop for the DSi seems even more unlikely considering weekly sales of the handheld

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Wii $199 confirmed.

Sorry headshot91, there's no way DSi will go down as far as £99. They're still selling the Lite for that much in the UK, and have been since it came out. If we're lucky it'll go down to £130ish-which is still a little more than I paid at launch. I had a friend at Toys R Us use their staff discount, and I got mine for £125. As far as I know, most UK retailers are selling DSi for £130-£140 now anyways, so a cut to £130 isn't out of the question. It might come along side new colours and bundles.

Does anyone else think this is more aimed at under cutting the 8GB iTouch? Nintendo said in their last fiscal statement that Apple was becoming strong competition-there was no mention of Sony. Somehow I doubt Nintendo will be concerned by a £230/$250 PSP Go.

@demotruk

on N4G there were articles from 2 other sites claiming this

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

well shopto.net have been selling dsi at 129.99 for over a month now, with an rrp of 149.99. If the dsi does have aprice cut, i cant see how it will go down to say £130-£20=£110 at the cheapest retailers. Shopto.net are great for that kind of thing- their slim is only £229.99!

That's exactly what I'm saying.  I don't see why Nintendo would feel it necessary to drop the price 1). just before Xmas and 2). when the thing is selling like hotcakes.

This probably has more to do with the Canadian dollar approaching parity with the US dollar than anything else.
