Forums - Nintendo - Tales of Graces - Some Beautiful New Screens

This is probably the first time I have ever found interest in a Tales game.

Well I haven't played Symphonia 2 yet, so I have no idea what you mean by that. But still, Symphonia's battle system is just... weird and annoying. Its like theres a 3D field, but I can only run left and right (or up and down). The characters even get stuck sometime (the ones behind can't hit at all). I prefer the Abyss' (haven't played ToS2/ToV) where you can free run; go behind/around and actualy run from monsters/enemies.

I'll play it if they give me Japanese voices this time. I've tried to play 3 tales games now and every time, the voices were some of the worst dubbed voices ever. If this game doesn't have a Japanese option, I'm just going to have to skip it. I can't risk another Tales purchase.

I wonder what Tales-games you've played. Symphonia had really good voices and Vesperia had fantastic voices. This from a guy like me, who tries to avoid dubs at all costs. It's time to wake up and smell the coffee - Dubs have gotten a lot better, and Tales are one of the games where they've gotten the furthest.

Its completely based on your own perception.  And my perception was that the voices in Tales of Symphonia were over acting and literally sounded like they were just reading off the screen as the events happened, to record the events on 'cue'.  This made it feel very forced and made the acting feel very annoying.  As if I could just read it faster and get a better jist then the actors were portraying it.  And that's not how VA in a game should be.

And the VA in a game like the remake of Tales of Phantasia for GBA is well mocked.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

I'm going to be honest here... I dislike the free-running that ToV and ToS2 had. It makes it way too easy to just run away from the enemies and get cheap hits in.

I much prefer ToS where you have to actually use extreme planning and quick reflexes to win a boss fight. You really have to time all of your moves perfectly, you have to ACTUALLY BLOCK ATTACKS (zomg!) and it's much more satisfying.

I can't wait for ToG, and it's going to be kickass. =)

Damnit I can't believe I missed this thread, anyways I bet I will love the new characters. I really love the hair style of the girl. Also soriku next time you make a tales of graces tell me!

lloyd from symphonia was 17 and i bet everyone thought he was 14, collete was also 17 and kratos was 400, so age should be rather an after thought. for anime fans, seiya fom seint seiya is 13(through the whole series) saori(athena) is also 13 andshe has the body of a porn star, so in anime style age should only be determined by words and not by appearance.

WHAT?! I THOUGHT THEY WERE LIKE 16-17! You just ruined Saint Seiya for me, mister! ;_;

Agreed, lol emilies words sounds like the statment of a ... well fill in the blank. :I
