Forums - Nintendo - More Nintendo Wii Bashing From CNET

Actually, being that his claim is "Listen, we all know the Wii is selling well, but that doesn't mean people are actually playing the console,"  I believe you have to include Wii Sports, Wii Play and Virtual Console games because they're being played on the console ...

It doesn't matter whether people bought these games for a lot of money, they're still being played. Certainly, someone may only put 10 or 20 hours into Wii Sports but if that is a reason for discounting a game can we stop including Heavenly Sword, or Gears of War/Halo 3 purchases made for the single player campaigns?

One of these days someone is going to have to explain to me what is so bad about games that look like:

"Listen, we all know the Wii is selling well, but that doesn't mean people are actually playing the console," he writes.

"Sorry to say, graphics still matter, and because it is lacking, some walk into a room, play with it for an hour, tell everyone how fun it is, and go back to their PS3 to marvel at the look of a game," Reisinger theorizes.

But "if people decide to buy it because it looks nice at a friend's house and proceed to play it until they get bored with it, where are the opportunities for third-party developers to make money?"

This quote is so funny.  Over a hundred and some odd million people have purchased the PS2 and that was graphically the worst system.  It did have some stand out titles (GOW, FF, etc.) but many games looked worse than GC and 360 games.  If history tells us anything, it'll be that graphics don't matter to make a console win.  good-looking games are just a plus.  A BIG plus, but a plus, nonetheless

That is not true.  I am the only Wii owner to buy a game.  Currently, I have 10 Gamecube games, 8 Wii games, and 2 more Wii games comming this year.  These are the only Wii games ever sold.  CNET = God

currently playing: Desktop Tower Defense (PC), Puzzle Quest (DS), Trauma Center New Blood (Wii), Guitar Hero III (Wii), Ghost Squad (Wii), Actraiser (SNES), Donkey Kong County (SNES), The Legend of Zelda (NES), Kirby's Adventure (NES)

will play next: Paper Mario (N64), Golden Axe II (Sega), NiGHTS (Wii)

Welcome to internalization and rationalization.  Certain folks have elevated those two to art forms.

^That's easy: It's not photorealistic, "aaah colors!!!!", no guns to be found in a 200 mile radius, it's not "HD", it shows Mario, no naked women, "OMG, what's that strange hatted bear from Cartoon Network doing in a game, this looks like KIDDY", "where's my daily portion of blood?", "where are the soldiers?", "Gran Turismo looks much more real", it looks like the SNES version of the NES version displayed on a broken N64, "come on: floating islands?!?", "Where the H$#%@ is Master Chief?", no tree looks like that, "those stars are so last-gen" .........

Right, I own 20 WII games and by the end of the year this will be more than 30, so I guess I represent about 30 WII gamers then ey? What a moron!!

Whooaw... Didn't know Sony had people workin at Cnet for 'em... Pathetic bastards! ... I've got more then 10 Wii games and only 3 are from Nintendo cuzz i hate casual games like Big brain academy and shit so i don't buy those Nintendo games... Only the Metroids, Mario's, Zelda's etc... So people ARE buying the 3th party games!

Sounds about right, if wii's owners don't buy games the developers wont make them ? whats wrong with that thinking ?

And its asinine to think either graphics or game play does not matter, we are creatures that love interacting with lets say a ball no more or less then we can love the visuals of a nice sunset.

Wii owners have been buying games... lots of games... that's why the article is silly.

I'll say.  I'm buying 3, 5 or 6 wii games today thanks to that toys R us sale. (5 being if they still have this one gamecube game i want there.)
