I have actually wona few endurance races with a beefed up MINI

& GT is more fun than mario kart or the cartoons of Rol (the girl in your avatar who has copied lightnings hair colour)!

Obviously you never played a racing sim with damage. The objective is to t-bone their car in such a way that they are totaled, and you can roll into the pit and get everything fixed.

4 ≈ One
I really hope damage is optional, I play GT for what it is, not because I wanna see how badly my R35 crashed at a corner in laguna seca

you mean, you play to hop the corners and not take any underbody or suspension damage? Or to force yourself into the inside line even if it means major car contact?
I'm sorry, but the Its a sim so it shouldn't have damage argument is incredibly lame. Real life has damage, sims should have damage. Maybe not a perfect simulation of damage, but it should be something to at least minimally affect steering and even force you out of the race.

There's something to be said for limiting certain aspects of reality, so I understand what you mean.
I, for one, am not looking forward to GT12 or Forza 10 where the direct neural implant interface makes you feel like you have to pee really urgently, which is a problem real racers sometimes have to deal with if they consume too many fluids before a race.
And I most certainly hope those future racing games allow me to turn the "swallow-a-bug" and "get-a-butt-sweat-itch" simulations off.

Well that's good then
| RolStoppable said: GT wasn't fun before, so damage can't ruin it. I used the walls a lot to finish the races faster, because I would win anyway. The majority of races in GT are already decided before turn 1 (at least up until GT3, haven't played the games after that). There's usually only a small percentages of challenging races and I actually prefer races with slow cars like a Yaris, because you don't pull away off the bulk within seconds after the race has started. |
You're making me worried. Is this true? I am looking forward to GT5 because it looks so good, but if it's just cruising in front of all the other cars it wont be that fun.
I'm fairly certain there will be a way to turn off the damage, or minimize its effect, atleast in the beginning on the game.
With GT5 Prologue you could do your bashing techiniques up until the end of the game, the last few races you couldnt slam into cars or hit the wall unless you want additional time added to your lap.
I'm guessing damage may be similar, the further you progress into the game, the more easily you can sustain damage and the greater effect it has on performance.

@slimebeast
not really you know
it depends on your skill & the level of the races you are doing
If you are upto the challenge finish GT4 at 100% complete.....that is a REALLY hard thing to do
Its a challenging game for sure......
