Cool. Though I think I'll be waiting for whatever comes after this as I have two 4870s at the moment.

They will be competing using GT200 rebrands to the "300 series" (confirmed, check their driver files). Rumoured price is either $299 or $399; one of the cards (50 or 70) will be $299 at least due to an accidental contest notice offering it as a prize. Launch date is, uh, tomorrow. |
Actually the cards you are calling rebrands aren't rebrands. They are their new architecture with a ton of stuff disabled.
ATI has powerful fan. I turn fan speed up to 30% to keep my 4870 cools down.
First reviews are out, and yeah, it spanks the GTX285 around the park and in a few games it beats the GTX295. Lower power use too. nVidia better start slashing prices otherwise they'll end up in a lot of hurt I think.
