Quite impressive, even though the GTX 295 and 4870X2 beats it at points. I want to know what the X2 model will be like o.O. The other funny part is the CPU bottleneck in BIA. A Core i7 bottlenecking? that is odd but shows that if that bottlenecks, what type of rig can actually run the game 100%? a skulltrail board?
Once the 5870X2 comes out (and subsequently drops in price a bit), I'm totally picking one up. If a single 5870 beats out my 4870 by that much, I can only imagine what a dual GPU will do.
Looks like I may be spending a lot on my computer next year, with these just coming out now, and then Phenom II X6s coming out later on in the year as well. :o
Solid results with Beta drivers all over net reviews. I think it could consistently beat the GTX 295 in all but some Nvidia-favored games once it gets some proper drivers in the upcoming months.

That? Ahh, I remember the days when this used to be a big deal, how Mad Onion scores mattered and so on.
Impressive, but I still prefer lower framerate, but cooler and silent GPU. AMD/ATI offers also CPU's and GPU's I need, though, so if it fares well I'm happy, and next year or a little later, I'll be able to buy HD5800 series performance at a much lower power consumption.
lol, Crossfire test from Guru3d.

"So the bottom line is really simple: with the Radeon HD 5850 you gain a lot of features and will play your games at really good performance levels. There's very little to dislike here as not only do you have a state of the art graphics card in da house, you'll also have a very wide feature set available which is future proof. If your upgrade path is worth USD 259,- the Radeon HD 5850 comes very much recommended in our book."
Performance wise, it seemed to be just a bit better than the GTX 285. Not only that, it costs $259 where the cheapest GTX 285 that I saw on newegg is a BFG (at base speeds) that's $295 after $14 instant savings and $30 mail in rebate and the next cheapest one is $330 after rebate.

I do this already with my GTX295.. |
Are you sure you're running it at 1200p, or 1080?
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.

only if the developers were kind enough to code their program to optimize on 8 cores and 16 threads, which seems a bit unlikely!
I think at this point, it's now in the hands of the programmers to start optimizing their game code to fully utilize 4 cores at the bare minimum if it's a hardware intensive game. Natually, it would be nice to see them even optimizing for 8 threads, but still unlikely as i7 builds still represent a small niche in gaming.
