It does already. Patapon is an example. Launched at 19.99$ even though its a full psp game and worth 49.99.

Patapon 2 was $20 for UMD as well as digital download.  Although there will be significant savings with downloadable titles, I doubt the publishers will pass those savings onto the consumers.  Also, I don't think there will be a trade-in program for UMD's.  If you want to continue to play your UMD's, you should plan on buying a UMD based PSP.  That being said, the PSPGo is very tempting.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

You are correct.  I had read inverted's post as saying the retail version was $49.99.  I don't think this is an indication that Sony will undercut retailers by offering digital copies for less.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

It most certainly is not a downgrade as a gaming platform. You will be able to carry as many games with you as you want, store them on your ps3/PC and transfer very quickly whenever you want to switch. Sony will have a campaign to get your UMD games for download, no one doubts that.

It will have access to PSPminis, which will be better than the iPhone app store

It will have cheaper full titles since they are download.

It will have no worry for europeans about release dates

It will have no worry about stock, games will always be available.

It fits in my pocket a lot better.

It's sexy as shit, can't wait to use it.

Not only that, the PSP has more good games coming for it than any other system, including the DS/DSi.

PSPminis is almost impossible to be better then the app store. The app store has thousands of apps.

You use a touch screen and move the ipod around to play which is how mini games are ment to be played IMO

PSP titles will still cost the exact same on PSN as in retailers. They do now, and they will in the future.

If anything, UMDs are cheaper because some stores order alot of stock and nevber sell alot so they have

to lower the price. I saw Loco Roco for $5 and patapon for $5 at Walmart, and on the PSN store they wanted

$15 each...

^ this you are also didn't mention...... It can be accessed everywhere!!!!

I'm not martin luther king. I don't have a dream. I have a plan

Sell a man a fish you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish you just ruined a perfect business opportunity.

We didn't emerge out of the stone age because we ran out of stones. Its time to be proactive not reactive.

Without a touch screen, a lot of mini games would be far less fun. Many word and puzzle games rely on being able to enter text or point quickly. I still can't believe for the price they couldn't have added a touch screen. There are so many more possible applications with a touch screen.

For example, a Scrablle type games only takes two touches to move a piece to the board. The same task with a thumbstick would take considerably longer. Even something simple like browsing web pages is ten time easier with a touch screen.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

Most people doubt that, including me. Sony only made a passing mention of a goodwill campaign for this, and hasn't said anything since then. They are running out of time to announce something...

That's unlikely given the PSP has much less functionality without the touch or motion controls... that said the fact that it plays "real" games kinda makes up for that.

It will have cheaper full titles since they are download.

There is no evidence of this, and it's extremely unlikely. Retailers will set the price at whatever the download price is. The main issue here is that cause they are download you can't get them secondhand for much cheaper. In other words games will cost you more.

It will have no worry for europeans about release dates

The PSN stores are still separate. Release dates will still be separate.

It will have no worry about stock, games will always be available.

Yeah cause PSP games are selling so fast they are hard to find right now. *rolls eyes*

It fits in my pocket a lot better.

This is definitely a plus.

It's sexy as shit, can't wait to use it.

Last time I checked, how good the hardware looks has nothing to do with how fun it is to use.

Not only that, the PSP has more good games coming for it than any other system, including the DS/DSi.

That's your opinion. I use my PSP for games much less than any other system I own, and I own every other system. Making it the single worst this generation for me.

If the "goodwill campaign" is going to be announced at all, it'll probably get announced at TGS, or at least that's what I think.

good thinking, that didnt even come to my mind

Nice vid. Cant wait to pick mine up on the day of release. My original PSP is playing up now (no longer mobile as the battery bay no longer holds the battery properly.. yes i dropped it a few times).

Now that is got a HDD and still has expandable memory (MS pro duo slot) it makes it a worth while portable media centre.
