take a look at the PS2's library...."quantity" of quality games is the best way i can say it.....and also,excessively strong support from 3rd parties

secondly, the controllers(ps1,ps2,ps3) are very comfortable and the buttons are placed in the right spot...the best if u ask me

thirdly the bc of PS1 games

If BC counts then surely the original PS3 is better than the PS2 -- since it's also a PS2!

I say this on every list like this I see. People can't seperate:
1) Most influential to the industry and
2) Better hardware and games.

People try to mix the two and get lists like this OPs.

According to #2, PS2 would be number one. It has great graphics combined with a large library of games.
According to #1, NES would be number one. It brought the gaming industry out of the crash the Atari created. It also pioneered almost every genre of gaming (in 2d of course). It also had a large amount of games for it.

To at least some of us, consoles are not handhelds.

Also, the PS2 is a very popular machine, but it is not the top machine of all time, unless you are talking about sales.

The Xbox actually had more power -- as well as a HD and network (Live) capabilities.

And remember, a lot of this generation's Wii shovelware in North America was last generation's shovelware in PAL countries.

Of course, since this is opinion, there can be disagreements but not true debate over facts (unless the justification is wrong).
