Forums - Gaming - Just got a Samsung series 6 46"( LN46B610A4F)

I have a 37 inch HD CRT in my room. I recently switched the Wii back to the (ok but admittedly not great) LCD in the living room, and it is an obvious step down, especially for SD sources. Not all HD sets are created equal.

Hopefully you get your setup sorted out though with some settings tweaking.

edit: @Zen: You should work for Samsung, you made me want to buy one of those TVs and i'm not even looking at the moment.

Not a bad lcd tv, but you should get a plasma. Plasma is by far the best for gaming, excellent colors, 0,001 ms ( lcd is 2,5-5), much better image overall. No matter what people say, plasma always beat a lcd of the same range. Be carefull with the 120 hz motion - read this all page to understand the hz thing ( knightout )

If you don't mind green phosphor trailing which even the new Pannys have. Look that shit up before you go plasma.

Also, one thing Plasma fanboys piss me off about, is when they completely downplay the need to burn your TV, or that burnin doesn't exist, and then when they're in their plasma threads, all they talk about is how they burnt in their own plasma for 10 hours a day, for 100 days, and how the basic deburnin tools ruin your PQ.

Plasma's suck bro. Never get one if you ever want to watch something with black bars, or actually game on it.

Phosphor trailing is when the green phosphor ages slower than the red and blu, and everything leaves a green trail. It is unacceptable, and all plasmas get this issue. Just take a video of yours after a year of heavy use. You might not notice it, but the video will.

Also, BRO, that link, 600hz pannys ARENOT talking about the same thing as a 240 or 120 hz LCD. They are two different ratings, completely unrelated.

You know when you should buy a Veria?

When you only want to watch streched SD movies.

Do you know that most BR movies have black bars, and you just can't watch that shit on a plasma. You will damage your set, they aren't built for it, and over time, you will basically be running the screen saver, or worrying about burnin more than you will actually watch the SOB.

For gaming, you have HUD and energy bars. Bad business.

Also, your ms rating aren't what determine gaming lag, and for the record, I think the B750 is 2ms, which means no artifacting.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I've been waiting for this TV for the last 5 years. I didn't even know it existed until I saw it(it's a brand new product 2009 from Sammy)....if you see it....you will know.

PQ is better than all but the highest end plasmas and oleds, and one thing about a Plasma is they are rather dim. Their light levels are low, and that's another thing you won't hear often from the Plasma fanclub. I could make a job out of roasting that particular, dying community.

Nothing against plasma but they usually use a lot more energy then LCD, LED or DLP TV's.

I´m not going to argue with you because we´ve got completely different opinions on this plasma/ lcd thing. But I admit possible burn tv overtime, even it´s not that usually and yes the 600hz and 120/ 240 hz are two different things, as it is +-explained in the link. Anyway

if you want a real gaming experience just get a 1080p projector. i don´t kown about the prices in the USA, but in Europe you can get a infocus x10 or a sony vpl hw 10 1080p by the same price you pay for a 50-52" 1080 p plasma/ lcd. I´ve got a infocus 7205 ( 720 p) and i must tell you: a projector it´s the ultimate gaming experience, AWESOME.

Are most now 3-D enabled?

Not most. Many are, though. All DLPs are 3D ready because of the technology being used. Take a look at the Mitsubishi WD-82837. I had the rare opportunity to see it display 3D at my store when a Mitsubishi rep came with one of two machines in the US that are made for DLP presentations. It looks INCREDIBLE. Flawless 3D presentation with virtually zero loss of clarity and color quality.

Also, Samsung LEDs are broken down into 6000, 7000, 8000, and soon to be 9000 series. All are very nice.

@OP I don't know how Samsung's 46B610 is, but I know the 46B640 and 46B650 are both excellent.

Samsung LED UE-40B 7050 is the best TV. I want it. But I dunno if I should get the 40 inch or the bigger 46 inch.

Whats this model called in the US (and rest of Europe? Only Scandinavian things trn up when I google it)

And how much cost in your country? Here the 40 inch costs $2300 or 1600 Euro and the 46 inch costs $2800 or 1900 Euros.

What does this mean btw?

On a LCD, and to a lesser extent plasma, the ms rating is not related to gaming latency. MS latency of 2, can oftent lead to a real MS latency of 20-50milliseconds.

This, I believe, is showing trailing via input latency. The more processing an image has, the higher latency.

The LN52B750, with the amp on, has very high gaming latency, because it uses an assload of image processing, and the inherant latency of the LCD comes into play as well.

Thus, the LN52B750, has a game mode, which reduces picture quality(you won't be able to tell) but decreases latency. My Guitar Hero metallica on my B750 is about 20ms, which is low for a LCD.

What you see there, is a representation of that lag, via something like the Wii remote, or a mouse.

I BELIEVE.

In actuality, I have no idea, but that is my best guess.

The 7000 has some serious flashlighting and clouding issues in screen uniformity. You might be playing the panel lottery. Make sure you get a SQ01, which means that Sammy actually made the panel, and didn't outsource it. It'll be on the right hand side by the seriel number.

Get the biggest set. When it comes to TVs, you can never get one that's too big. Remember that.
