gosh, whoever though the PS3 would be topping 100 K this past week is an idiot. IT CAME OUT TODAY OFFICIALLY EVERYONE! We won't see the sales with Slim affecting much until next week

If they are accurate, 100k is great but not as much as I expected.. Still though would push it to being the best selling console in the Americas (and the 360 might push itself over the Wii..)

Possibly, but at least at my local Best Buy they had an enormous pallet of the things right in front of the entrance which would certainly help.  When I was in the store the pallet looked to be about half gone.  On the other hand, there was also a pallet of 299 elites with quite a few missing as well. 

The real story will be what the numbers look like a month from now, not next week since it's the first week of full release.

Why would the sales go up 85% if there weren't any slims available. Those +30k extra PS3 sales aren't phat SKUs that's for sure.
The slim model was limited last week, yet it was there in quite some places and that just means that the official launch numbers aren't going to be that impressive in the current week than if they had been launched on a concrete street date.

The Joker DLC helped the PS3 to a stronger attach rate in the UK and now ALSO America. Wow.

What numbers were you guys expecting, seriously complaining about the PS3 selling 100k in America is crazy. It's a third place console, the gamers have already made their choice, there won't be a comeback, get it out of your heads. What Sony is doing is trying to at least make some money out this disaster that was this Generation, so for our sake, stop dreaming and enjoy the ride, the games.

If anything, the fact the PS3 is the first system that despite being in 3rd place, gets the majority of the "big AAA" 3rd party titles, should be enough consolation for PS3 only owners.

This generation is pretty interesting in this matter. 3rd party prefer to make AAA multiplats with the second and third place consoles with high development costs than make it for the first place console with last-gen development costs. I wonder how much GTAIV would cost if it was released as a Wii only game...
