i think we'll have to wait like 3 weeks into spetember for the slim to fully kick in. the advertising has just started and it'll take a while before everyone knows the new price point.

Because if you aren't, well... for-profit corporations aren't NGO's worth volunteer work.

Yeah, because proudly supporting a console means you're getting paid to do it right? STFU

 

So these days "proudly supporting" is an euphemism for "I'll contribute to the greed of a huge transnational corporation that doesn't give a shit about me nor about anything else beyond its own bottom line". "Proudly supporting" is something to be said about Doctors without Borders, the Red Cross and other NGO's. But corporations? 

Not to mention motherfucking IOI, the guy that puts real effort on this site needs ads in order to generate revenue and to keep vgchartz alive. Free advertisement on people's sigs is sending a message to Sony: don't spend dollars on vgchartz, the zealots will do it for free! 

By the way, if you read the thread there's many a honest ps fan complaining about these kind of things. 

But whatever, the bar has been set so damn low it's already below ground level.

How much are MS paying you to advertise the gamerscore and gamercard feature... in your sig?


360 fans have gotten real bitter since the slim announcement. I mean, there is no reason for Bitmap to even address the issue. This is a non-issue that bitmap is making into one. Get off their backs bitmap. Let them do what they want. They arent breaking the rules. You look petty.

cant wait for september npd, 360 and ps3 goin full on head to head! i expect the ps3 to double the 360 ales for the month. if it doesnt than its dissapointing considering how popular playstation is and stuff.

Vgchartz is awesome lately! Great numbers for the HD consoles, and I'm glad that Arkham Asylum is doing well. More money for Eidos and Square-Enix, two publishers with great IPs.

Just fantastic.

I'd just like to point out that PS3 has only cracked 70K in the Amreicas 12 times in the last year, and 10 of those times was in the Nov - Jan holiday buying season. Compared to 360 which had an unbroken run of 30 weeks > 70K from the date of it's price cut this time last year through to end of march.

As for Wii it never once dropped below 70K in the last year. Also note at no time in the last year did 360 (or PS3) outsell Wii in any week. If PS3 even gets a single week > Wii in Americas that will be a notable event. The last time 360 outsold Wii was on WE 17 Feb 2008. And the last time PS3 outsold Wii was on WE 15 June 2008.

So I'd say 70K for PS3 before the official launch of Slim is pretty damned good. Though I would note that 360's first week after 2008 price cut saw it climb to 97K. So first minute of round 1 in the PS3/360 bout in the Americas to 360 at this stage.

I'm astounded at the possibility of PS3 Batman AA > 360 batman AA in launch week. I don't believe this will be the long term outcome though. 2:1 install base advantage means 360 version must triumph (i.e. have longer legs). Yes I realise preliminary numbers favour 360, just, but the difference according to ioi is within the margin of error.

PS3 haters didn't set the high bar, PS3 fanboys set the high bar.

You should of read the slim predcitiosn thread to see what I mean,

 

Even if PS3 outsells the Wii next week, it wouldn't be that impressive. It's a $100 price drop AND a new model, if PS3 did not outsell Wii with that hefty boost, nothing will, and Sony would probably be very depressed. It would be more impressive if PS3 managed to outsell Wii with a major software release, and go on to outsell it for an additional week before dropping below.

85% is small when many people expected 300% increases worldwide.

Sounds like he is talking about WW to me...

300% increases worldwide, I was essentially saying 300% increases in every region.

If i intended worldwide numbers, I would have said a worldwide increase of 300%, not increases the plural is important, maybe i should have made it more clear.

People expected NA numbers over 200k, Others numbers over 200k, Japan numbers over 100k. Worldwide week 1 over 500k.
