Great news. I missed out on them last gen so I can't wait to play them now. As others have said, I really hope an Ico/SoTC combo follows before The Last Guardian is released.

Why not 1920x1080??

Wasn't that promised for GoW3 yet we can't get it for a 1&2 port.... Tekken5 did it just fine...

Cost and effort.  The further you want to take old assets and improve them graphically, the more it's going to cost and the longer its going to take.

Clearly Sony wants this to land in time for holidays, and to serve as a big lure for purchasers prior to GoW3 hitting 2010.

That's my view, anyway.  They looked at time/cost and plumped for 720p.

1080p is pretty tough, too.  Very, very few games on PS3/360 are delivering native 1080p.

Fantastic, since I never owned a ps2 and didn't get to play 1 & 2 I was really hoping they would do something like this(barring some b/c announcement).

I was gonna buy the first God of War, i guess i'll wait. I'll also try to sell my GoWII for ps2 and buy this one
