Forums - Gaming - Feeling like Sony/Microsoft just showed you middle finger?

Wow....how can anyone be pissed off?

That extra cost you paid was so you could use it from the time you bought it to now.

Seriously?

Sony and Microsoft are dropping the cost of their gaming consoles while Nintendo is still charging the same amount... yet they're the ones screwing the consumers?

Sony and Microsoft were selling their consoles at a loss since the gen began while Nintendo was making a small mint on the Wii yet Sony and Microsoft are the ones screwing the consumers?

Sony and Microsoft have been very heavily upgrading their consoles' functionality in terms of media, online, and more while the Wii has basically the same capabilities it had at the start of this gen... yet Sony and Microsoft are the ones screwing the consumers?

This is so true, it brings a tear to my eye.

Read the big red thing people, as it is true.

I never pay full price for electronics. I'll buy a PS3 when its $99 and a Wii when its $30.

The implication here being that Nintendo is the one screwing the consumers, or just that a logic running counter to the OP's would suggest that Nintendo is doing worse than Sony and Microsoft in this respect?

It's like the ink blot tests.  People will see what they want to see.  If they want to see it as Microsoft and Sony screwing the consumer, they can see it that way.  If they want to see it as Nintendo screwing the consumer, they can see it that way too.

When it comes to dropping prices, you need to look at what you got for the higher price.  Sure the PS3 is $299 today, but if you were an early adopter a couple years ago then you basically got 2 full years of gaming with the console for that additional $200-300.  Same for the 360 just with a few different numbers.

Same for value/purpose.  If you buy a Wii to play Wii games, then if Nintendo doesn't change anything else about the console then (outside of games) it's still the same value it was when you got it.

If someone really wants to imagine a company is screwing them over, they'll find a way to see that.  It's just that easy to spin such things in different ways.

I think you would do more good if you explained it in that way instead of lending fuel to a fanboy fire.

Reading WOW's following post probably isn't what you were thinking of when quoting him.

I bought my 60 gig + extra controller + madden 07 for $900 so tell your friend to GET OVER IT!!! So my PS3 was about $650 including tax.

Nope, I didn't mind paying the extra for 2 games, a blu-ray and backwards compatability with PS2 games, although I did wait for the 1st price drop. Actually, the only reason I bought it early was because I heard they were getting rid of PS2 backwards compatability and I knew my PS2 was on its last legs (disk drive noises), so yeah actually, I give Sony the middle finger! (just not for the reason in the OP)

Nope. And I wouldn't for the reason stated. That's just how it goes with electronics.

I was more annoyed with Nintendo when I discovered the Wii didn't play DVDs.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

That's consumer electronics for you. You can always wait and get something better, cheaper, and more energy efficent. I built a pc for $650 last October. Had I waited another year to build it, i would have been able to get a much better CPU and graphics card for the same price.

With consoles, as we get closer to the end of the generation, there's going to be better deals all the time - cheaper hardware, bundle bonuses like extra controllers, games and peripherals. Unless you're buying a Wii, lol.
