Good idea, this would allow Mario Kart Wii to be played online out of the box.

Nah, Wii users are too stupid to set up WiFi. It's the fact that the Wii uses Ethernet that allowed Mario Kart Wii's sales to go so high.

Wow wtf?  I thought the PS3 would do 300-400k  for its first price-cut week.  Maybe it will still do that when the slim is released worldwide.

Now.. why would people buy when they know slim is coming, well a lot did.. but more people are waiting.
Besides, stock is drying up. AND many places has old prices untill slim is out.

Wow. PS3 stock must be almost non-existent in Japan.

When are they getting the Slim? I remember hearing both September 1st and 3rd.

The lack of stock must be playing part at least in Japan.

As for the Slim hype, what you say makes sense, but at the same time I would think many people don't even know the Slim is coming. I mean, it has happened before that a new model or a price cut got announced, but sales barely went down in the weeks in between the announcement and the actual price cut.

I'm not sure the general public is that informed.

I blame Japan.

yea 20 of the 30k drop is from Japan which is coming off of a holiday and still naturally dropping from the MH3/black wii boost, it's quite expected.
