that's right, apparently Amazon UK has already dropepd the PS3 slim price below its RRP, obviously because demand is very low at the moment.

I said this before, but the UK is relatively small. Its very possible the people that are interested just do not see any reason to use amazon to purchase the system when the stores are all located very close. Also, I suspect a lot of uk bros are buying the game online OUTSIDE the uk, in order to get it cheaper. (those that are using online anyway)

Maybe so, but Amazon is still the best way to determine a platforms success, and this early price drop indicates that they are having trouble selling the preorders for their initial shipment.
