You sir are completely wrong.. Metroid: Other M has nothing to do with the quality of the Prime series. The Metroid Prime Trilogy was developed by Retro Studios, and it was planned to be a trilogy after the release of Metroid Prime because of the quality of the end product. Metroid: Other M was first concepted in 2006 when Nintendo's in house handheld Metroid team decided that they wanted to bring a handheld, back to the franchises roots style Metroid to Wii. That's BEFORE Prime 3 was released.
However as much as I enjoyed Metroid Prime 3, in my mind it can't stand up to Super Metroid in terms of fluidity of gameplay and it certainly isn't as intuitive, innovative and as much fun as what Super Mario Galaxy was.
Not many other teams in the industry could have pulled off a first person Metroid quite like Retro Studios which fills me with a huge amount of confidence in them for their yet to be announced Wii title. That could quite possibly beat Galaxy as my favourite game on Wii but then they have to deal with Galaxy 2 which looks even more epic.
