Forums - Nintendo - Metroid Prime 3 is underrated

it was definitely over-rated and nintendo knows it...why do you think they are going in a completely different direction?

I see you bought Shadow Complex. It's a Metroid Clone.

Oh and Bioshock sucks that is why they are making a second because the first one was not good enough to satisfy fans so they make another to try again.

Yay idiot logic!

...troll

Yeahp. And the reason Nintendo didn't make another Metroid sidescroller is because it is overrated... Nintendo knows it... Epic Games don't...

You sir are completely wrong.. Metroid: Other M has nothing to do with the quality of the Prime series. The Metroid Prime Trilogy was developed by Retro Studios, and it was planned to be a trilogy after the release of Metroid Prime because of the quality of the end product. Metroid: Other M was first concepted in 2006 when Nintendo's in house handheld Metroid team decided that they wanted to bring a handheld, back to the franchises roots style Metroid to Wii. That's BEFORE Prime 3 was released.

However as much as I enjoyed Metroid Prime 3, in my mind it can't stand up to Super Metroid in terms of fluidity of gameplay and it certainly isn't as intuitive, innovative and as much fun as what Super Mario Galaxy was.

Not many other teams in the industry could have pulled off a first person Metroid quite like Retro Studios which fills me with a huge amount of confidence in them for their yet to be announced Wii title. That could quite possibly beat Galaxy as my favourite game on Wii but then they have to deal with Galaxy 2 which looks even more epic.

I don't remember too many people saying that they do not like the game. I was the same way as you with Metroid Prime 1 for the Gamecube, I got it around the time it came out beat the first boss and quit playing for about 2 years. I came back to the game and played it for a week straight beat it and loved every minute of it! I would put Metroid Prime 3 as the 3rd best Wii game after Mario Galaxy and Tales of Symponia DOTNW.

This pretty much sums up what my story with Metroid was. Except I sold the game back to GameStop and then got on the Metroid Prime 2 hype train to give the series a second shot. I loved Prime 2 and then went back and got my friend's copy of Prime and beat that too.

I wouldn't say underrated, but definitely under appreciated. I'm with you 100% on Prime 3 probably being the best single player game on the platform. For me personally it is high on my personal list of all time great games. I'm glad someone has found Prime 3 to be as special as I myself believe it to be.

It is graphically more than impressive and is able to immerse you into the game better than any other game this gen (imo) I mean a first play through can take you 20+ hrs getting 100%. Everything in this game just clicked for me.

Other M is my most anticipated game of 2010. With that said however, Project M has their hands more than full trying to live up to the benchmark Retro has set.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

I think I got it!

Nintendo games are best played... at least 1 year after release.

i dont have any issue with the older metroids or the previous metroid primes...but the third one was trash. idk how other wii fps are...but the controls from this one make me think the wii isnt good for anything but an on rails shooter. really boring and gimmicky too...had to force myself to finish it.

btw ryudo, the bioshock analogy doesnt make any sense. if it wasnt good then it wouldnt have any fans, since its the only bioshock they couldnt have built a fan base for it. and while you may be an idiot and a troll, you really shouldnt go around calling yourself that. makes you look crazy.

MrBubbles Review Threads: Bill Gates, Jak II, Kingdom Hearts II, The Strangers, Sly 2, Crackdown, Zohan, Quarantine, Klungo Sssavesss Teh World, MS@E3'08, WATCHMEN(movie), Shadow of the Colossus, The Saboteur

I initially liked this game even more than Galaxy but Galaxy has grown on me more on repeated playthroughs.

I agree with the OP though that the Metroid Prime series seems under appreciated. With the exception of the diehard Metroid fans and Nintendo loyalists it doesn't seem to garner quite as much respect as other AAA franchises. I honestly couldn't fathom some people the other day saying that Metroid Trilogy was overpriced at $50.

Neither do I. Speacially because MP3 is not a FPS...

That's very odd logic.

So Metroid Prime 3 fans don't count because it is already a franchise and they have to like it? You realise you yourself disprove that theory by liking the older ones but not Corruption. And there are many others who view MP3 as equal to/greater than/ not significantly less than MP1 and 2. In fact the omst common ranking I have heard is MP1 > MP3 > MP2

And what about me for instance... I loved MP3...  and I had never played a Metroid game before.
