Ninja Theory Developed Heavenly Sword but I dont believe Sony owned them. They maybe just funded the development of Heavenly Sword. I could swear that Ninja Theory also develops the Ninja Gaiden Series for both 360 and PS3. I dont believe Insomniac or Naughty Dog is owned by Sony. They just have a great relationship.
PS3 FTW
I thought Bandai Namco robbed the Sony HQ when i read the title

Either you look at it either they were irrational then and are rational now, or they were rational then and are irrational now. The difference is the propaganda value, and that is all. They even attack the writer of the article for taking them at their word. They proclaimed these two developers a couple years ago. How was the author to know it was just drivel to overcome a huge case of buyers remorse. Somehow Folklore which was proclaimed the best role playing game on the console, and Heavenly Sword which was the best action game on the console. Are suddenly not major losses. They are even insinuating that they were utterly expendable. Talk about having the good old love them then leave them attitude. |
Just let it die.
U can put it how u want, like Soriku said the games will turn up on ps3 anyway.

Please do, especially since this thread was to just INFORM of the loss, not downplay it. |
...I could be mistaken... but isn't heavenly sword and Folklore still exclusive to the Ps3? so what exactly was lost in this transaction? because in dodces post it would seem like those two titles were.

I didn't say that. I said they were the two games we survived off of, as PS3 owners. In fact, I specifially mentioned that they weren't that big financially. People who knew what to play, played those games, though. |
Although, no one is flaming the developers and if what you said is true, then too few know what to play as only 200k copies of Folklore were sold. I would say you'd have a stronger case for Warhawk moreso than Folklore though. Warhawk still has a fanbase that plays still.

At the time, I completely agree with you!
But this isn't a loss. Both teams are making games for the PS3 and neither dev studio belonged to Sony in the first place. How can they be robbed when they were never a possesion in the first place, and when they're still producing for Sony's platform.

There are casuals and core gamers.
However, there are two distinct groups within the core gamer mold.
I hesitate to call them n00b and l33t, so lets just call them "casual core gamers" and "niche gamers."
Niche gamers don't play games from a certain genre, just because of said genre. They also don't base their purchasing decisions off of reviews or generally held beliefs. These gamers purchase and enjoy games that they investigate and research. Games that will appeal to them.
Those gamers know what I'm talking about.
Just because something only sells 200,000 doesn't doesn't mean it's not the best game ever made.
Think about it. Wonder to yourself why the term "hidden gem" even exists. What does that imply?
Warhawk, I have no comment, and as CGI always like to remind me, my opinion is mine alone....but my opinion extends far beyond my gaming tastes, and reaches all the way over to your opinion, and judges it harshly.
@OP, it's not a loss unless the games aren't on PS3, and the whole "game woulda looked better were it PS3 exclusive" argument is imo, horseshit, and always has been. 2 games look better than Gears 2 on the PS3, and Heavenly Sword ain't one of em.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
