Forums - Nintendo - Which of Nintendo's 3 Big 2009 Wii Titles will sell the most?

I'm gonna have to go with WiiSports Resort, it will be close though between the 3 but WSR will win.

It'll be NSMB Wii > Wii Sports Resort > Wii Fit Plus

Do not doubt the power of Mario

I blame WiiFit

Plus.

09tarhell good fred dude.

If wii fit + is set to replace the original wii fit then maybe it might sell a few more that I predicted but not much more as I can see wii fit continuing the sell at the same level for much longer, unless there is a big price reduction.
If it is as it stands now just a sequel then I stick with my original prediction 4m. I purchased the original wii fit mainly because I was intrigued with the balance board at not particularly interested in the fitness aspect of the game. I think that perhaps many core gamers are like me and are more interested in the peripheral so by that rational like I would not be interested in buying a second fitness game.

What about wii fits main audience moms, young women will they be buying wii fit +? Again I don’t think they will. I suspect most of the women who brought wii fit did so because it is seen as a buzz product a must have impulse buy, like there favourite celebrities fitness video. Most of these women may have used the product a few times and grew tired of it very quickly and it is now stored under the bed next to some resistance bands. The women that did find it enjoy the product and are perhaps still using it will see no need to get an updated version as the original one works so well, why spend more money?

Honestly, I think it will be New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Wii Sports Resort will be nice to have but it will be nowhere as popular as the first plus people won't necessarily see Wii Motion Plus as a needed accessory.

Wii Fit Plus is harder to predict but it could go either way.

This thread has really been interesting, seems the posters anyway (the poll is still a little one sided) all have very different opinions. I guess at this point Wii Sports Resort is the safe bet because we already know it is going to be a success. I think it would be great if more people started putting there predictions for all three games, I'm very interested in different peoples expectations.

@Paulkelly
You could be right, Wii Fit + is certainly the one I'm least interested in of the 3. But I could also see the opposite happening, Wii Fit + getting all of Wii Fit's sales, and selling up to ~50% of existing Wii Fit owners. Obviously EA Sports Active isn't nearly as big as Wii Fit, but the fact that has sold well, makes me think there is still obviously a high demand for the genre. It will be interesting to see when the game releases.

Now with 74 votes in the poll, Wii Sports Resort has dropped to to 57% of the vote, still dominating, but the other two are catching up a little.

I just realized looking at the predictions, that most people expect all three games to break 10 million lifetime sales. If you think about it that would really be a crazy accomplishment. Has there ever been three games released on the same platform, within 5 months of each other that broke 10 million?

I actually thing NSMB Wii will sell the most copies LTD when all is said and done, because not very many people are going to purchase Wii Fit + (hell, they hardly use the Wii Fit as it is), and Nintendo will probably release another Wii Sports game during the Wii's lifetime.

Plus, for a game that is the sequel to the top-selling game of all time, WSR's sales haven't been that impressive... only 500k first full week sales in a market that has an install base of over 20 million Wiis!. You'd think that just about every Wii owner out there would pick it up, since they mainly bought the Wii for Wii Sports, but apparently the novelty has worn off, and they are looking for something a bit meatier in the game play department.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I haven't seen anybody in this thread predict that NSMB Wii will actually do poorly. I think and hope (I love 2D Mario games) that it will do well. But does anyone think there is chance it will perform like Animal Crossing? Animal Crossing:Wild World is a huge hit for the DS, and Nintendo obviously was expecting it to do very well on the Wii also, but City Folk only performed solidly. Is there any chance that the same thing will happen to NSMB Wii?

no way tarheel, there are millions and millions of 30 somethings that have been waiting for this title for almost 20 years, the 3D Mario's have been nice but this game will sell crazy!!!
