Forums - Microsoft - Section 8 demo is on xbox live...damn!

It could really use some sort of tutorial or at least could explain to you what you're main objective is and how to build your team's score up the most effectively etc. I did play a few matches and it isn't too bad but it isn't a deal breaker for me. I will rent it first then decide where I will go from there.

Hmm...I don't know, I didnt have this problem. It may be because I play a LOT of FPS games. Out of the last 10 games booted up like 6 were FPS games... If you don't play that much FPS stuff than I can see someone being confused if they choose "instant action".  Cause it just throws you in the middle of an online battle.

Section 8 Single Player Preview:

The story, for what it's worth, centres round the titular Section 8 – the 8th Armoured Infantry who are renowned for the do-or-die missions they engage with. Their tour of duty takes them throughout Earth's far-flung colonies, which are being terrorised by rebel faction the ARM of Orion, a group who goes around disconnecting each planet's communications and thus maintaining a veil of secrecy. Again, so far so generic, but Section 8's plot is little more than the flimsiest of excuses for some seriously hardcore gunplay.

Developers TimeGate may not be the most renowned studio in the industry but the Texas outfit has been quietly churning out some solid genre entries. 2001's Kohan pumped some fresh air in a stagnating RTS market and was followed up by an equally impressive sequel. F.E.A.R Files may have not shown off the developer in the best possible light, but now it has been freed from the shackles of following in someone else's footsteps, it's making the first-person shooter it has always wanted to make.

Essentially, Section 8 is a game that's born out of a million multiplayer matches played by its creators. It's a game that, as we mentioned before, borrows freely from genre greats such as Battlefield 2142 and Tribes, but one that shows a shrewd understanding of its inspirations by only borrowing the very best bits.

Yeah the only thing i don't like is lock on. Its a great game it really reminds me of Unreal Tornament 3. Southpeak games finally made a great title. Too bad this will get covered up by other games like Halo: ODST. I think this game is very original and i hope it sells well. The Unreal Engine relly makes this game look great.

Looks good, but I haven't watched any videos before this or read anything about it, only saw the box art and thought it was going to be some really cool mech game.

My interest has vanished.

Good to see that it is shaping up nicely though. Good news for those who are looking forward to it.

I'm likely one of the biggest shooter fans in these forums! I just have a wide variety in genre taste but it is by far my favorite. I just think that it would have helped confuse people less I mean sure capturing the points was a given but what about letting people know that random objectives will be triggered during battle, what is the most effective way to dominate etc. In the full game perhaps they will have some kind of tutorial most shooters of this type do. They should have had one in the demo though. Knowing what the hell you are doing would help many players trying out the demo enjoy it a lot more.

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.

SouthPeak Games.....Every time I see a game published by them, I feel compelled to say "it's a trap." But since these are the guys that made the F.E.A.R. games then it might not be terrible.

I'm more excited about the Lost Planet 2 Co-Op Demo that's now up....and I didn't even really like the first Lost Planet.

Yeah well Lost planet 2 was amazing. With the quality of the demo, id be surprised if the game isn't AAA. But its probably a good 6 months away. This is 2 weeks away...and I like to play games now rather then later :)

I see this being 75-82 on metacritic...not that it matters as a 75 FPS game is better than 99 RPG when it comes to my gaming taste, and since individual taste varies too...
