Why would one expect huge ps3 boost in Japan because of the slim announcement? This new revision is far far away from being a definition of `slim`, and I believe it fails even more by Japanese standards. Not only it looks like crap, but it's stll quite fat! Look at the pictures comparing it against Wii, it's no funny.

As for xbxo360 rise in Japan, think of very persistant push MS has been doing in Japan. Don't you think their huge efforts can break through the Japanese stubborness and xenophobia someday?

The cheapest console on the market got a boost during a holiday? No wai!

Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

PS3 is down due to people waiting for the slim/price drop - which they've now got.

Why are people seeing something negative for PS3 here? The drop is to be expected right before a new price point. 360 got a boost due to time of year, recent title release plus nice back catalogue of RPGs.

If PS3 is low for sales period after the price drop, then there's something to talk about.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

This was predicted by most people on here last week as PS3 stock dries up. Didn't Gears 2 also come out reently, perhaps a western game might have raised it's profile too.

yeah both demand and supply are low i guess. Simple economic supple-demand curve shows how this affects the equilibrium point...

Anyways it's gonna have a huge first week (PS3 slim) but for how much?

PS3 has been heavily supply constrained in Japan- perhaps people bought a 360 instead?
