Forums - Gaming - GC 2009: Final Fantasy XIII Will Not Feature Limit Breaks.

Limit breaks were not on all FF games since FFVII.
so not a big deal.
FFIX used Trance, and FFX used Overdrive, FFXII used something else too, so me at this article.

Probably because it would have Broken the Limit of those damn DVD-9s onto which they're struggling to squeeze the game.

HIGH FIVE!

While it´s technically true, but in the article, they meant some "special" attacks. And some "special" attacks were in all FF from VII, except X-2.

Name isn´t that important.

FFXII used Quickenings.

CT was considered a sales disapointment a couple months ago. Now, it is considered a surprise success?!

Not having limit breaks is not the end of the world. I think the lack of limit breaks will help more than hurt the game. People thought that the limit breaks were too long. They get rid of them and you still complain. There is no pleasing the FF fanbase.

Well, i think the limit break in some times makes the game way too easy, i remember FFXII you just started a quickining combo and prayed to it to be big enough to kill the boss... And there is already the summons with all characters... The only thing i'll miss is the special attacks cutscenes, but they could put special attack cutscenes with summons, can't they?

Yeah, that is a weird turnaround.

Fixed. Limit breaks are pretty short while summons take way too long :/ Also I never hope they never bring back that system from FF VIII again where you had to charge up your summon. It's just an excuse for their way too long times and if you screw up that long summon ends up not doing good enough damage.

True. Remember Eden? That was hell. You could make a coffe and drink it and effect still doesn´t end. I know, it was for "Boost" ability, but still... Later in the game, it was better not to use GF, with weapons, DMG per minute were much higher.
