no, wii will never be outsold until FF13 launch week & GT5 launch week by the Ps3

Maybe for one week the PS3 or 360 or both might be able to outsell the Wii, but considering that both are price cutting at the same time, its not likely it'll last

For a week or two, perhaps, though the 360 is the real threat. The PS3 won't beat the Wii because Sony won't ship enough for that to be possible; not only do they have to control the crippling losses they're still taking on each unit, they also have to make absolutely certain that the PS3 sells out this time.



Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.

Well if you compare the sales right now the PS3 is not even close to the Wii, so a 'relaunch' will help the PS3 sell, but Nintendo isn't going to sit there and let them outsell them.

It's possible. But I don't really see it happening. Nintendo may cut the price of the Wii in Japan. Maybe. That'll boost sales there. Plus with NSMBW and WF+ that'll boost sales more. I don't know much about the other systems and their games though.

Am I the only one who finds it amusing that all the hooplah about price cuts and whatnot for the HD consoles coming down 100$ or more and the best they can hope to acheive is to outsell Wii a few weeks during a time when Wii sales are down so dramatically year over year and is still its original MSRP nearly 3 yrs later. Isn't that unprecedented?

I am not trying to be a buzzkill but perspective is needed here. Especially if you travel to other sites and see the constant articles about Sony winning the console wars after one week and other nonsensical articles. I guess it is cyclical.

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

You wrote "a few weeks" in the OP, not just this one. So it needs more time to see if it can keep these sales up.

It likely will, but it's still too soon to call.



A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

The Wii might well lose it's 'crown' for the next couple of weeks, but in the long run Wii will be on top. From where I'm sitting Nintendo still have many options to choose from to push sales higher-and both Microsoft and Sony seem to be running out of options.
