That's pro wrestling for you.  Sometimes, there's a slow methodical change like Daiel Bryan going from face to heel by being a jerk to A.J. Lee.  Other times, there's a random WTF change like Stephanie getting kidnapped by Triple H and being forced to marry him--then suddenly deciding to join him.

They wanted the shocking conclusion to Summerslam.  Sometimes that "Stone Cold just made a deal with the devil" moment is worth it.  Sometimes, not so much.

They weren't really "renegades" so to speak.  They were guns for hire, sort of.  Like Heyman used them for instance when Punk was fueding with the Rock.

Yeah, he's faced both of them in Japan.

I've only seen one of the KENTA vs. Bryan Danielson fights, I think it just had the usual bloody nose/busted lip from being stiff as hell.
