I'm betting that this was completely a strategic delay. Nintendo is smart enough to know that with all the big xbox and PS3 games being delayed to the first 2-3 months of 08 that they were going to need something big to get everyone's attention.

They look and see that for the holidays, we already have galaxy, metroid, nights, etc so they decided to hold off on their only other big game to combat all the delayed games.

Sort of sucks for US Ninty gamers - but that is about it. Doesn't affect Europe/AU/Japan gamers - if anything makes me a little happier, as I know we are being shafted quite as hard.

And its odd to say, but it could be great news for Ninty:

1/ Wii is likely to sell out this year/xmas anyway - regardless of units or software

2/ PS3/360 have strong lineups for start '08 - now with WiiFit, Mario Kart & Smash - Ninty does as well. Perfect game to nullify the release of GTA or MGS?

3/ This gives the holiday season to Galaxy - at least on the Wii. Should result in more attention, and more sales.

4/ Whatever happens these holidays, its a huge kick-start to sales in early '08.

(and  of course the obvious - the game will be better) 

...

In the long run, this is definitely a positive for everyone. In the short term - bad news to US gamers hoping to Smash over Xmas.

So what are the huge games left for Xmas overall?

 - Galaxy
 - Mass Effect (EA? boo....)

 - Assassins Creed(?)
 - Uncharted(?)

Anything else in the same league? 

Shams, it was delayed in Japan til Jan. 24th so they got it to, just not as bad...

Ok ... how many suicides, broken hearts, tears of sadness, and boo hoo'ing did I miss? Anyone keeping count?

Here's a thought: GTA4 and the PS3 hits won't own early '08 anymore. Of course that's not the reason it's delayed -- losing SSBB for Christmas is too big -- but it's an interesting consequence. Now the Wii has something that will hold its own against PS3's early '08 lineup.

Screw you Reggie for making us have hope for this release date. I spent all summer waiting till the update to come and being so excited for Brawl after hearing the release date. Now what am I going to do all winter?..

They probably thought Galaxy could sell more if Brawl wasn't so close. Ugg i'm pissed now. Atleast it comes out after exams. That's the least they could do for me so I have time to study now.

Well, one thing's for sure: the Wii's sales won't be as high this holiday. But at least Galaxy will release in November...
