Well, Wii is out of reach.

Will take time to catch the 360, although i think it WILL happen sometime in 2011.

Sales will explode for a few weeks leading up to Slim release.

Slim release sales will be huge again for 3-4 weeks.

October i expect a load of bundles with Slim, Uncharted 2 baby!

November = Gran Turismo 5 month = mahoosive sales.

December + FF13 = December + FF13 = more mahoosive sales

I do actually think that the PS3 will eventually outsell the 360, and here's why. The PS3 will have a 10 year cycle, Sony has shown that they can and will do it wih the PS2 (10 years next year!), the sales will ramp up and as someone else posted, a high percentage of the sales of the ps2 happened after the redesign. Since it's in second place and won't overtake the Wii (let's be real here) it's not going to sell like the ps2 did, so I figure 90-100 mil by 2016. Now, the 360, as much as MS wants to tell us 10 year life cycle, I see them launching a new system 2011-2012, and probably dropping/severely limiting support to the 360 (just going by their admittedly limited history as a console deveolper). So two to 3 more years of strong sales it will end up 60-80 mil (Yes I think doubling is easily obtainable in the next 3 years). The ps3 will win by legs.

The thing I find funny is that all of a sudden PS3 is in competition with the Wii!?

Sony won't decide if the Ps3 has a 10 year plan, consumers will. You really can't compare the Ps3 to the PS2. It's struggling to outsell it now and it's supposed to be a current gen machine! There's no way the Ps3 has made a fraction of the impact in the market as the Ps2 has, therefore i really can't still see it being on shelves in 7 years' time.

A bit of perspective....

A 50% sales increase from last week's world wide numbers will only mean 116,890 consoles sold.

Compared to 360 with 106,000...

A 50% increase in sales is massive. Last year Microsoft saw a 39% increase after its price cut... A 40% change for Sony would only mean they barely beat 360's current sales.

A 300% increase in sales won't bring the PS3 up to the Wii...
