Welcome. You've made a good choice.

I will get my own PS3 in slim version first day when it comes up here in the North Pole.

Dark Side isn't that great, I mean ya you learn cool lightning tricks and draining abilities, but you are always doomed to be beat by the light side.
Wait we are talking about the ps3? What happens if you own a white or silver ps3...
Also honestly going back and worth from ps3 to 360 isn't that bad, only problem is if you are used to FPS setting on one controller and switch to another console fps settings it might annoy you a little.

Dude I joined the darkside last xmas and even I was unsure, but I have never looked back since. A few things I can tell you right now:
1) the diiference in quality of the hardware is amazing and don't be surprised if your friends and family join in too! Mine did! You can only ignore it for so long before you give in.
2) if you are a of gamer 1st I take it you like fps's. You will have to give Killzone2 a play and MAG or you will be missing out. GoW3 is going to be dmazing but if you like Indiana Jones and Gears, there is no way you can miss Uncharted2! Even Cliffy B had to compliment uncharted1 on it's brilliance!
3) you will find yourself spending more time on the ps3 doing other things than you thought. Vidzone is amazing. You font need to worry about purchasing songs to play home anymore and it's free. With the browser you can stream movies for free, go on YouTube, BBC iplayer, facebook, twitted etc
4) if you are into comics you will have heard about the DD of comics. That will be awesome for comic book fans :)
5) some of the psn games like flower, superstardust hd and wipeout HD will start to catch your eye.
In a nutshell, although you maybe unsure now, what the damn console has to offer is going to keep you occupied and keep you going for way longer than you thought! Including BR. When you see the difference you will appreciate it :)
They have all their darker, Sony has the high-tec bomb that crushes, nintendo has telekinesis and mind control, and microsoft has the high cost exclusive blasts

There is no reason for me to buy one." I happened to be off work today and was following the press conference coverage on Kotaku (and also trying to keep a 2 year old happy and entertained at the same time), and of course saw the PS3 Slim/price drop, which turned out to be one in the same. I started having evil thoughts about watching BluRay movies, playing God of War III and Heavy Rain, etc. I started thinking about how cool it would be to have BOTH consoles and not ever have to worry about missing out on good exclusives. I started thinking about that stockpile of money I have sitting up in my bedroom that I have been hoarding for the last 6 months specifically to get in on all the good holiday releases. I shrugged off these evil thoughts after about an hour. I reminded myself that I'm not a movie collector and can get HD movies in many other ways besides BluRay. I also tried to remind myself that there are TONS of games coming out for 360 that I want to play this year and next year and there is no danger of me being on the outside looking in while all the new PS3 owners enjoy all the good games. That reasoning lasted me all afternoon. And then about a half hour ago, I got on Amazon and pre-ordered a PS3 Slim. At $299, it's hard to pass up all those good games. You really can't use the "no games" argument about the PS3 anymore, even though the software doesn't seem to sell too well. I'm probably not going to play LBP or Metal Gear Solid 4, but I really want to play God of War III next year, and I think I'd rather play FFXIII on the PS3 than on the 360. Don't get me wrong--multi plats and 360 exclusives are still going to be played on my 360. I don't give a rat's ass about Home or earning trophies on my PS3. I don't care about Gran Turismo 4 or MAG. But there are some games on the PS3 now that I just HAVE to play. At heart, I am a hard core gamer. Back when I was a PC-only guy, I didn't have to worry about missing out on any software, but at this point, I think I'm really at a disadvantage only owning one console when there is a whole other library of HD titles that I'm missing out on. So........I have joined the dark side. EDIT: And if any of you can think of a reason why I shouldn't have done this, please let me know. I'm also having some hard core buyer's remorse right now. On the bright side, I can try the concept of being a future PS3 owner on for size until my PS3 ships. If I end up regretting it, I can always cancel the order. |
Good thing you don't care about GT4 because you can't play that on the slim.....yet.
Yet another young padawan has been seduced by the dark side... I gotta admit, it is pretty tempting... but must... resist..... can't... let... Sony... win...

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
OMG I just ordered mine on amazon.ca! woot woot! no more fighting with my brother :D
120GB for $299CD yeah!
