To some they are the best, to others there not, and as such one should not go about parading and claiming that a company is the best, when it's only your opinion and not fact.

I personally think Nintendo is the best company, when it comes to milking their franchises, and making gimmicky peripherals successful.

I am also of the opinion that Sony is the best company as well, for risking new IP, taking a hit to provide me cutting edge technology at the time the console launches, and in general giving the media features I love.

Same may feel the same as me but for the Microsoft, and most likley for the same reasons as me as well.

beautiful epic games which swallow you and dont release you until the day is saved, and peace is once again restored to hyrule, mushroom kingdom, the lylat system, DK island or anywhere else. The best games in history wear the nintendo seal of quality.

Didn't Nintendo put the seal of quality on all NES and SNES games? It's certainly not true that Nintendo has made all of the best games ever made...Half Life, Shadow of the Colossus and FF7 beg to differ.

About Nintendo being the first gaming company, that's probably not exactly true but one thing people don't realize.

They've been making games since 1889, just as they are today. Nintendo is an integrated hardware and software company, and when they were founded as a card company in 1889 if you think about it, it's not that different.

They created the hardware, that is they manufactured the cards and created the software, that is the game with its rules on the cards. If you think of Pong as a primitive type of videogame, what was gaming before that? I'd say card play creation and manufacturing was one of those technologies that preceded it.

So technically they've been doing gaming as a company for 120 years.

Despite their detractors, and the mistakes they make, they do create consistently compelling and brilliant games. If you look at the highest rated games of this generation and previous generations, it goes along something like this: Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime, Ocarina of Time...

And even then, many people would argue that Mario 64 is better than Galaxy, Super Metroid is better than Prime, or LttP is better than OOT. Other people would argue the opposite, or say nothing comes close to Yoshi's Island, Super Mario World or Mario Brothers 3. Or that Majora's Mask is the best Zelda game. For that matter, what about Smash Brothers? What about Earthbound? What about Fire Emblem? What about Advance Wars?

I wouldn't say they're the "best". But when it comes to the games I've enjoyed the most, and that have had the most impact on me (despite me owning only two Nintendo home consoles), the majority of them are Nintendo titles.

all nintendo games have the seal of quality.  Just check it.  As for my comment, only a fool would take it as my real opinion.  I love all good games, no matter what system they're on, but given that the title of the thread is: why is nintendo the best?, well I thought I'd just post some nintendo love.  Think of it as a poetic license.

I'm against this thread, solely because you'll attract all the trolls/fanboys (of all sides).
