Forums - Sony - Uncharted analysis from Game Dev

If you haven't played the game and don't want to get spoiled, why go into threads about the game? You deserve the spoilers!

I liked the monsters. And since when creating a new gameplay style on a game bad. It made more diverse and interesting.

I loved the ending of uncharted, there was times I felt like I was in a resident evil game.

It only added to the gameplay, if they had continued with the same basic gameplay only, would get repetitive faster.

I didn't know I could fire while running until monsters arrived. This even taught a new control I hadn't figured out.

The game always had a indiana jones feel to it. And the end fits with indiana jones(almost plagiarism)

I disagree with the monsters messing things up gameplay wise. Towards the end, they were present together with regular (elite) gun-wielding enemies. You had to use a mixture of run and gun and cover-based shooting to take down all of the enemies, not to mention turning them against each other. It was a pain only because it was so damned HARD! I also thought they fit into the story well for a nice twist. Really, be honest, how many people would have seen that coming?

I disagree with the conclusion in bold, one of the original Uncharted's biggest issues was the repetitiveness of fighting wave after wave of pirates, but from a gameplay standpoint I found that the twist in the story helped to alleviate that repetitiveness by making you play a different way. Gamers should not be so stuck in their ways that they can't switch things up after 5 hours of playing a game.

From a story standpoint the twist was ridiculous and rather stupid,
but from a gameplay standpoint I have no complaints.

Why? (The next part is spoiler tagged for those failures who don't own a two year old game which is among the best on the console):

The whole way through, you thought you were simply searching for your average golden statue. Meanwhile, Gabriel was playing the classy British villain, and Navarro the subordinate sidekick of the villain, always doing what he was told, eager to receive praise. But the statue was cursed. Navarro (somehow) knows this, Gabriel mutates, and Navarro kills him, assuming the position of the lead villain and going through what appears to be a complete personality change, but then you realise just how pissed off at Roman he really was. It adds a spooky twist to the story, and gives it a more satisfying conclusion.

I believe the reason this article came to be is because Naughty dog has put a lot of Dev's on notice. They crafted an impeccable engine and most Dev's are still on that old "too hard to develop for mantra". All I can say to raven software or who ever has a problem with uncharted and it's pacing "get a F---king life and learn how to make great games that people actually want to buy b--ches!!"

One year is the accepted time allowed before spoilers become common knowledge. The game is a year and eight months old. For the price of a couple of your shovelware games, you could have bought the best game from a Sony developer this gen.

All you know is that the game has monsters. You don't know why it has monsters. Or what happens to the monsters. Plus, the game is just too awesome to miss, even if they removed the story completely.

Ok, you made me feel much better (unless you're just trying to push another sale, as I would have LOL).
