Forums - Sales - HD dvd claims lead in player sales

http://www.tvpredictions.com/toshiba101007.htm

This really surprised me!  I thought most of you said HD dvd was dead.  I guess if you add PS3, blu-ray is outselling HD dvd - but the war is not over at all.

I have the add-on to XBox360 - I like it, but people look wierd on some of the movies.

Which plyer do you have?

Weren't HD-DVD claiming a 2:1 lead in stand alone players not to long ago?

i still play movies on Vinyl.

what a friggin 'swing'.
100% pro HD-DVD.
and then this at the end, basically saying. 'Yeah, HD-DVD is getting it's ass handed to it, but I like HD-DVD! YAY!'

However, the statistics do not include Sony's PlayStation 3, which has a Blu-ray player inside. If PS3's nearly two million unit sales were included, Blu-ray would have a wide advantage over HD DVD.(/quote)

Also, Nearly, 2million PS3 sales? 2Million? Nearly? That means under 2 million... I think he's smoking something good. Because worldwide numbers are what he is counting for everything... and you count worldwide, it's NEARLY 5million.

EDIT: Btw, mister, do your numbers for HD-DVD include the addon for the 360? (sorry I cant help myself)

HD DVD SAL's have ALWAYS outsold BD SAL's, just look at the price for goodness sakes.....so what does that say for software when the SAL's (stand alone players) are outselling BD's yet software is in heavy favor of BD?

It means that the influx of more PS3's due to the 40gb and xmas will effect this war more than Toshiba wants to admit. And it also means that the HD DVD pricepoint of more than $200 cheaper will soon evaporate, so if they cant gain more than a 53:44:3 ratio, what will happen when the BD SAL's naturally come down in price and all of those 4th quarter blockbusters hit....tranfsormers, shrek and bourne vs simpsons, spiderman, die hard, pirates, superbad, rush hour combined with the ps3? Please.

And now from April HD DVD claimed a 4:1 advantage in SAL's. which would be 80:20 ratio for those who want to compare to current ratios's. http://www.betanews.com/article/HD_DVD_Still_Very_Much_in_the_Game/1177544785

So now Toshiba likes to say they are "still dominating" in this most recent press release? Okay if going from 80:20 down to 53:44:3 is considered dominating then yes, Toshiba, keep up the good work.

This is not a win for the HD-DVD ... its a disaster that movies are actulaly selling much batter on BD :P

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

That story has just one source - as much as I will likely get an HD-DVD player anyhow, but this crap is not even news. Toss out the PS3 and yeah, HD-DVD is killing BR. It's just like the Wiisports argument ...
