Forums - Sales - Benelux accounts for 63 - 77 % of PS3 sales in "other Europe"

@ sharky

Probably much less PS3 are sold in Taiwan as they do not like Japanese product much like China hate Japan .

The PS3 is being made in Taiwan. China loves the US?

Apart from Hong Kong, I don't think the PS3 has yet launched in China.

"According to an article in The Wall Street Journal today, Sony is doubling its marketing budget in mainland China to “help boost its sales there by at least 50% and keep it on track to reach the $10 billion mark in fiscal year 2008-09.”"

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

@ Freestyler

Australia is not classified as other

No, but it's listed in the other section and part of the totals there. BTW ioi, is New Zealand included in the Australian data?

With regard to Iberia, I think VGChartz has been undertracking sales data as well. The PS3 seems to be doing especially well in Spain.

My first post in here

As i'm from HongKong, maybe i'm able to answer part of the Sharky' question

sharky' assumption is wrong, The teenage in Taiwan actually loves japanese culture (pop stars, comics, clothes, video games), many of them even can read japanese.

I think JRPG games are more popular than FPS there, and the ratio of PC gamers is high in  Taiwan too, thus the popularity of 360 is not that big, on the contrary, WII is a big hit since release.

For the Chinese gamers, maybe they hate japan so much, such that 99.99% of them play pirated  NDS, PSP, PS2 and Wii games. 360 is a non-factor there too, because MOD 360 cannot play pirated games online, in China, no pirated games = no hardware sales.

I read that the hardware price of PS3 is lowest in here, but they are not flying off the shelves since there are no pirate games yet

@ stclam

Interesting post and welcome, the Chinese also seem to pirate Windows en masse. But it's interesting to note China as an emerging market. Although many still live in poverty, there are also many rich people living there. Interestingly I recently read China already has more billionaires than the US does, many of whom Women!

These are the Taiwan sales figures at the End of Aug

X360:102k

PS3:47k

No figures from Wii, as all hardware and games are imported.
but i believe that it sold more than 360 already

(No official release in Taiwan & HongKong yet, and there is a pirated Wii (named Vii) in China already)

For wii, most ppl in our region prefer JAP ver than US, so the Japan sales figures covered Taiwan and Hong Kong already

i have a JAP wii myself, even though i dont understand Japanese,
but the price of JAP games is about 30% lower, so i choose JAP over US ver

Another reason is that our gaming taste is close to japanese, those 360 AAA titles are not more attractive than Cooking Mama or Wario Smooth Move

2stclam,
"no pirated games = no hardware sales" it's TRUE... in Russia the same situation...
about HK... you have a great on line shop... play-asia! i like this shop ))

Compared to how they feel about the Japanese... yeah China loves the US.

Look into WW2 and Nanking.  Those wounds are far from healed.

Doubt it'll have anything to do with sales though considering piracy is practically a culture over there.

The price set by play-asia is not attractive to local customers at all

For wii' JAP games, it's way more expensive than retail stores

usually i can get newly released wii games at $38-40 US dollars, play-asia is selling at $50

Take Dragon Ball Z Sparking! Meteor as example, it priced $65 on there

In retail stores,  the limited edition is selling at $49 only (bundled with a cool key chain)

It' not purely about WW2, the cause of hate against japanese, american and taiwanese (in recent years, korean too) is way more complicated

Chinese people are castrated for thousands years (as i'm a chinese myself, so no racism here), 1.3 billion people are in mass hysteria now, they feels it's time to take control of the world and punish their nemesis

it's not history problem anymore, it's psycho problem
