All of the FF that came out when a "new System launched" have been the best:

FF7 - first PS

FF10 - First PS2

FF13 - First Ps3

I think it will be very good

 And all Sony Playstation models have been super successesful too right?

PS = Success

PS2 = Success

PS3 = Oh wait...

Well you're are certainly entitled to your optimism, a rather depression view that you think only one good FF game is comming out a generation but if thats the logic you need, then go for it. I've said my piece, anything else would just be needless raining on other people's parade.

Well, the N64 was beating the PS1 handliy before FF VII. That game started the push the PS1 onto its success. Anyways, I think just scrapping a game and starting anew is just stupid. They already have an engine for DMC4. Nintendo must have paid Capcom tons for them to toss a project which much was spent on already.

 So says the avid Sony supporter.

Yes I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact Capcom had already announced they would be pushing for most of their development on the Wii and Ds instead of the competition, or the fact that the PS3 is spelling worry for any potential third party support. No, obviously the real story behind this must clearly be that Nintendo found where the mother of Capcom's president lives, took her hostage and held her at gun point until capcom's president gave in and put their game on the Wii.

Also, you can make a game that looks good without using all the advanced techniques.  Especially with Monster Hunter which from my experience is pretty "cartoony" and doesn't require real high end effects.

Yes, but "art" weighs a lot in developement, probably a lot more than "high end effects" (which may even come "free" if you use a previously developed or futurely useful engine). And you really shouldn't make a PS3 game using Wii-level models, environments and textures.

EDIT: Sorry Ben, didn't see your post until after I posted mine. Still, I think it reeks of envy and he just seems a little butt-hurt over it.

Envy? Definitely it's not about this game. I never played it on my PSP. I'm awere it's really big game in Japan though. It will hurt Sony but this game won't sell on Wii as good as it would on PS3. Seriously, just mark my word and call a crow for me when I'm wrong. I'll be there to eat it.

how do you know how much was even spent on it? I'm sure this decision was made quite a while ago and we already have a video of the Wii version. They probably hadn't gotten much farther than just coming up with ideas, concepts, and had just gotten started on it. Also the PS1 was consistantly beating n64 in Japan and Europe the whole time, the only place where N64 was having some success is in NA, but N64's userbase in NA never passed PS1's userbase in NA, and always kept a sizable worldwide lead. Even after FF7 the N64 went on to be quite successful in NA, just not so much in Europe and Japan but it wasn't before FF7 anyway.

how could you possibly know how well it would have sold on PS3?  There's no way to prove it on this one.  Can't make you eat crow when there is no bar set.

How can anyone possibly say this won't sell as well on the Wii as it would have on PS3? There are over three times the amount of Wii consoles sold in Japan than PS3, and the gap is ever widening. THAT is the reason Capcom has switched development: installed base in Japan. Additionally, for those who claim to be fans of the series, the fact that this is now coming to the Wii makes it far more likely to see NA or EU release at all. Neither of the console sequels made it across the pond due to lackluster sales of the first game, and the PSP sales haven't exactly set the world on fire. If PS3 was still the console for release, chances are good it would never have left Japan anyway. The larger install base worldwide for the Wii will give it a better chance of multi-regional release.

Let's say sale of this title is so disappointing that it will be obvious. In December 2008 PS3 userbase will be much stronger. People here tend to judge with current pace of sale in mind. Sale of PS3 will boost in 2008 strongly while Wii will slow down totally. That's my assumption.

I have to admit I didn't expect any of big titles to be shifted from next gens to Wii so this one  is a real shocker.
