That's EA nation they use their own servers, Medal of Honor 2 was the same way, now if they started to support voice chat then they would have the best online service on Wii but for players like me who don't want to hear a 12 year old scream while playing I hope they have the ability to turn all microphone communication off.

From my understanding, it's impossible to directly use the System Codes for online play over WiFiConnection, since the System Codes operate on a seperate network. If it's working like this, the real friend codes are transparent, but they have to be there, and distinct from the system codes. There's no other way for it to work like this and still be running on WiFi Connection
The question is, how is Activision getting the special permission that is clearly necessary to do this? According to High Voltage, The Conduit had the least possible friend-code interference, to the point where they were up against the limits of what Nintendo would allow on their own network. |
Basically what Activision is doing here is importing the Wii's internal Friend List. It doesn't 'automatically' have access to it technically, but I assume it copies it somehow.
More developers should use that like HVS for The Grinder, Gladiator A.D. and Conduit 2 etc.

If the reports from developers on IGN are to be believed, it's all built into the system to be able to do that, I just think it's issues with developers not adding it due to it's not a standard and probably little incentive to add it from Nintendo themselves.

Yeah, I really like this solution. It still gives Nintendo the ability to control who you fully interact with, but it makes adding new friends to your games a lot easier.
Only problem I foresee is the limited number of wii friends your allowed to have no your console. It should be unlimited, but, I'm pretty sure it isn't.
Anyone know how many you can have?
cant find any hits on it when searching so I assume it's a lot. I imagine there's no limits, why would there be?

There's a limit on friends for all services Nintendo Wifi, XBL, and PSN. Just gotta live with it sadly :\

Your limited to 100 friends in your Wii list. You get 5 spots per page, and 20 pages.
Sounds great and I hope more developers follow suit.
