isn't it kinda stupid to sell the stand alone version for 3000 yen and the bundle for 8490 yen when you can buy the controller seperately for 2000 yen?

glad you point that out.  so it seems like the demand is low.  not because of people can't find the bundle as you can purchase them separately at a lower price.

this is the way i see it: capcom offers 20-day free pass for MH3.  20 days later launch, used MH3 will be poured into the used game market.  the retailers have to get rid of overly stocked new games before then.  the clock is ticking......

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

are you sure the controller is available? It doesn't make sense otherwise. They would have a price drop on the bundle too if this was that case.

Still sore over MH moving to Wii instead on staying on PSP I see. Better get used to it, Capcom want to make the serie popular in the west and it's not with the PSP abysimal software sale that they are going to achieve it.

let's see how long it will take for Capcom to announce MH3 (or whatever the name is) on PSP

MH is "abysimal" in the west (in comparision to the sale in Japan/Asia), and will stay the same.  it doesn't matter which console/handheld MH is on, it's the cultural difference that makes MH less popular in the west.  it's not something that heavy marketing campaign can change.

Please tell me, what is it about monster hunter that 'makes' it less popular in the west? Show me the evidence that you KNOW the preference of every single type of personality trait of a "westerner" that makes you think that people wouldn't like the game. I think it is just most Japanese games don't have any recognition in the West outside of the internet, and monster hunter is/was one of them. Before I started to use the internet probably knew about 10% of all the good games out there from the Japanese market. These are popular ones that either have been here since the revival of console games, or have had a huge marketing. So I really don't believe stereotyping a group of people from the origins of where their base civilization comes will tell you what kind of games they want to play or not. It is more that certain games became more popular due to marketing, and similar games sell because of these certain games. Imo if I saw monster hunter 3 playing in front of me without any knowledge of the game or it's origins and it was in english I would actually guess a Western developer made it. It shares more traits with western games than Japanese ones. It doesn't focus on cutscenes or story progressed gameplay. It utilizes quest/mission systems that you find in almost any Western RPG/Action Adventure/MMORPG. Also if I had to guess which audience it would target more I would guess western since similar games have sold more in the West. So like I asked earlier, what makes it target Japanese audience only?

seems to me that they must have sold out of the bundles. No way they are putting a 3000 yen game on the shelf with a 8490 bundle that includes a classic controller that can be bought seperately for 2000 yen.

so let me get this straight

you can buy monster hunter 3 tri for 3000 yen.

you can buy a classic controller pro for 1800 yen.

That's 4800 yen. That's an amazing price and a way better deal than the MH3 CC PRO bundle.

QFT. Here I am spending 70 usd(Around 6700 yen) for just importing the game alone, when I could have bought it with the controller for 2000 less yen if I lived in Japan. :( I guess I bring it upon myself not being able to wait and all to buy the U.S version. I doubt I would find a deal like that in the U.S anyway though.

They are completely sold out of the bundles (console and ccp) at retail. Clearly, Capcom (or Nintendo) massively under-estimated demand for the bundle options...oops.

sc94597 is right. Capcom is moving MH3 to the west because they know it can appeal. With the right marketing, which i assume Capcom will use, it can sell good, if not great. And the style of playing does look a lot like a wrpg. Only the (to) big swords and faces of the figures make it seem japanese.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

i doubt it's capcom, retailers are the ones that order the amount that they want. It's either that or Nintendo limited the amount of classic controllers they would bundle.
